Baby Blues Nightmares - Toddler Horror Game

There's lots of horror games dealing with young kids in some aspect or another, but this one is pretty clever in how it makes you the toddler instead of the adult dealing with children/play areas gone twisted. The constant toddler eye level brings a level of horror that a tall dude like me never thought of before!

"pimp my ride but for toddlers" - Steelkrill Studio, probably In the past, I've written about horror games that examine the human psyche from the perspective of a child; they're not easy games to write about because abuse and the resulting trauma can be quite debilitating, and I will also admit that certain games seem to follow a narrative "formula", so to speak. Baby Blues Nightmares - Toddler Horror Game (Y'could probably remove the last three words) is a horror game centred about a toddler with a disturbing set of plushies that keep him calm at night. Unfortunately, one night he wakes to find all the toys gone, and as he goes looking for them - he finds that something very, very wrong is happening in the house. Gameplay-wise, it's fairly simple; you walk around, solve basic puzzles or navigate around a large map to find your toys. You're also given a tricycle that you can easily get around without (in fact, the UI isn't overly forgiving in that sense; there's no indicators to tell you where the trike is, so you're often left wondering, especially when you're given more things to "customise" the tricycle). Pros: Decent remake of baby Blues. Creepy atmosphere. Good jump scares. I like how you try to keep the same Theme of the original game in how you have to find 10 stuffed animals. The dynamic of revealing that this baby it is a victim of abusive parents is interesting too. Cons: You obviously blatantly ripped off 99% of this game from two other games called among the sleep And the Garden of Ban ban. The tricycle was pointless as I barely was able to use it anyway because this map was so huge and had so many monsters and secret tunnels and vents I mostly had to go on foot and couldn't take the tricycle everywhere so it was absolutely useless. This map was way too big and confusing and the map sucked And was nearly unreadable without me using editing programs to rotate a screenshot of it and even then it took like 3 days to beat. I don't like how you changed the main stuffed animals from normal teddy bears to creepy bizarre ugly dolls with bloody faces as that was pointless and made no sense at all and I also hate how there's only one real monster in this game which is Red Belly AKA the Big Fat red monster with its head on its stomach which there is multiple of roaming in every singl…

love the idea of a horror game in the eyes of a child, it adds more fear factor and this game not only has smooth gameplay, amazing graphics and easy to follow dialog but the storyline is SO SAD once you piece it all together.

TL;DR: Great horror game with a unique atmosphere that strikes a nice balance between creepy and approachable. My only real complaint is that it's a bit too forgiving [spoiler] —the bear rarely felt threatening, resources were plentiful, and safety mechanics made exploration feel low-risk. With a more aggressive AI and fewer opportunities to bypass the tension, this could easily become an exceptional horror experience. [/spoiler] I really enjoyed this game and would absolutely recommend it for a few reasons: It was made by a solo developer, which makes what was accomplished even more impressive. It has just enough fear factor to enjoy it as a horror game, and just little enough to where I was able to play it through (curse you outlast). Even though my playthrough was under three hours, there was still plenty to explore and discover. The environments are well put together, and everything feels like it belongs in the world. Actually unsettling. The kind of horror that slowly gets under your skin instead of relying only on jumpscares. The atmosphere carried this one HARD.
