I haven't played a lot of Baroque but I did spend some time with it on the Wii (I've heard the PS2 version is better). It seems like one of those niche titles where it never got wide recognition but the people who know it love it. That's why I was baffled to discover how many spin-off games it has. Among these spin-offs, two bizarrely made their way to Steam in December 2025. This was one of them - Baroque Shooting: Reversed, an updated re-release of 2000's Baroque Shooting. Unlike Baroque itself, which is a procedurally generated action dungeon crawl through a strange and twisted dungeon, Baroque Shooting: Revived is a vertically scrolling 2D shmup. Think, I don't know, something like Radiant Silvergun or Crimson Clover. It doesn't have much of a story or anything to tie it to Baroque, but it does have the look. I'm not a big shmup person. I like some of them, but I don't have either the commitment or the enthusiasm to put in the practice needed to become good. That's what a lot of shmups are about - honing your skills, beating your previous best performance. That's not me, so the shmups I enjoy are the ones that are fun even if you're not trying to master them, and Baroque Shoo…2 found this helpful
i like the shot type combination system. on normal it feels like you get way too many bombs but there's 2 higher difficulties. some of the bullets are a lot smaller than some other stgs but thats ok. i like the aesthetic and the gameplay and baroque the rpg has been on my "to play" list for a long time, so this was a good purchase for me. the horror/bizarre type aesthetic makes it slightly more compelling to me than 2hu
Fun BAROQUE shmup with cool aesthetics just like the OG game. I feel like visibility could be improved; sometimes I die from tiny bullets I didn't see or mistake background effects for bullets. Also, this is a nitpick, but Tate mode would have been nice.
