About Big Pharma

✦ AI summary

Build and manage your own pharmaceutical empire, researching new drugs and optimizing factory layouts to maximize profits while competing against rival corporations in a dynamic marketplace. This business sim blends logistics puzzle gameplay with dark humor as you navigate the uncomfortable truth that illness is incredibly profitable.

What if you had it in your power to rid the world of disease, to improve the lives of millions, to ease suffering and cure the sick… and earn a tidy profit?

As the head of your own Pharmaceutical Conglomerate you have this power resting in your hands. Will you use it for good? Being totally altruistic may not be the best business plan. The uncomfortable truth (is there an ointment for that?) is that some remedies are more profitable than others and illness is good for business.

Welcome to the world of Big Pharma!

From humble beginnings

with a few rusty reconditioned machines, you can progress from knocking out cheap generic treatments for minor ailments, to discovering new active ingredients and hi-tech machines to help refine the next generation of world-changing drugs.

But watch out,

you’re not alone out there. Rival corporations that want to put you out of business have their own set of competing cures and treatments.

Then there’s the dynamically shifting marketplace which means that your fancy cold and flu medicine from last winter might not sell so well now it’s the height of summer. Where did I put my anti-wrinkle sun cream?

Big Pharma

is part business sim, part logistics puzzle. It’s one thing to work away in the lab perfecting new formulas, but converting the ‘sciency stuff’ into cold hard cash means bringing an engineering and business mind to the problem.

Factory space is expensive, and those fancy new agglomerators and centrifuges don’t always slot nicely together.

This is a fun tycoon / puzzle game with an interesting theme that takes itself just the right amount of serious, and a sense of humor. I've lost hours playing not realizing. The game time moves along in ticks as part of a day which are pause-able anytime real time, including multiple times faster speeds. You're a CEO / lead of a corporation making various drugs/medications for different ailments, with various goals and challenges to meet you can select from. The challenges are things like making more than an amount of money in a set time, or curing/treating a set number of people of a high tier disease within a set time, among other things. There's easy/medium/hard goals that you can go for where you might need to make way more in the time for the medium and hard difficulties. You don't choose the difficulty as a setting, the harder ones generally boil down to how much MORE you can min-max towards a goal, but the easy ones are very attainable with knowledge of the game and a plan. You have base ingredients which have a bar for Effects (good/wanted) and one or more for Side Effects (bad/unwanted). There's a small range within each bar that has a maximum that fades out each point o…

I've really tried to force myself to like this game. But it's boring and tedious.

Least intuitive UI and game schema I have ever encountered. Basically every other factory/economy game ever made is more playable.

After spending quite a few hours with Big Pharma, I can confidently say it's one of the most unique management games I've played. Instead of simply building a company, you're constantly solving production-line puzzles, optimizing factory layouts, researching new medicines, and adapting to a changing market. Every decision feels meaningful, and finding a more efficient production chain is incredibly satisfying. What impressed me the most is how the game blends strategy, logistics, and economics into a rewarding gameplay loop. It starts off simple but gradually introduces more complex mechanics that keep you thinking without feeling unfair. There's always a better way to design your factory, which gives the game fantastic replay value. The presentation is clean, the interface is easy to understand, and the soundtrack creates a relaxing atmosphere that perfectly matches the gameplay. If you enjoy games like Factorio, automation puzzles, or deep business simulations, Big Pharma offers a refreshing twist with its pharmaceutical theme. Overall, this is a hidden gem that deserves more attention. It's challenging, addictive, and incredibly rewarding once everything starts running …

I was surprised to find so much strategic depth in this game. It's truly a masterpiece strategy game. As of this review there are only 1,435 reviews on Steam. This is my top 1 hidden gem. Instead of following fixed recipes to craft drugs, you actually have the ability to create your own drugs by figuring out what ingredients to mix and what the most efficient manufacturing process is to make that drug. All the while doing so, you have to optimize efficiency and value of your production lines within the given space constraints, and position yourself against your competitors in a market of shifting demand and supply. The tutorials are quite lengthy to go through. But once you complete 1 real campaign, you'll begin to appreciate the beauty of this game's brilliant design of mechanics. There are 35 campaigns for you to beat, and I'm still working my way to beat all of them. If you like strategy games, I dare you to beat the game with the highest rank in all campaigns. I assure you it's going to be a blast.

Very fun chill simulator in which one can sink a lot of time into. RNG and different competitor AIs make sure the game is never quite the same. Marketing and Malpractice dlc is a must and absolute worth, as it brings so much to the game. I made a pill for treating migrane which also causes headaches as side effect. NIce. It didn't sell that well.
