About Production Line : Car factory simulation
✦ AI summary
Design and optimize your car factory assembly line to maximize efficiency, minimize costs, and outcompete rival manufacturers in this deep management simulation. Balance production flow, technological research, and profitability as you expand from a modest operation into a mass-market powerhouse capable of churning out thousands of vehicles.
Production line is the new car factory management/simulation/tycoon game that pushes your organisational and entrepreneurship skills to the limit. Can you build the ultimate optimised, free-flowing car production line whilst beating the competition and still turn a profit?

A modern car factory is a near perfect example of efficiency, process-management and flow. A massive army of precision-controlled robots dance to a milimeter-perfect ballet of engineering excellence with perfect timing. Components snake along conveyor belts to a 'just-in-time' ordering system that leaves no pauses, no delay, no confusion or congestion. Nothing exists but the perfect flowing efficiency of high tech car construction...
...in theory.
In practice, of course, life is not so simple. When you get to grips with your first factory design, it certainly will not feel in a state of pure flow...or profit for that matter. Making a handful of built-to-order cars and breaking even is one thing...but competing with the big multinationals and churning out thousands of cars for the mass market is a whole new ballgame.
To win market share from the big companies you are going to need planning, an appreciation of future technology, a careful eye on your bottom line, and an ability to design a factory layout that makes use of every square meter, and cuts production costs per car to the absolute minimum. Have you got what it takes to win?

Production line is the new car factory management/simulation/tycoon game from Positech Games, the developers of Democracy & Gratuitous Space Battles, and publishers of Big Pharma. This game is designed to appeal to the efficiency geek in all of us, the person who cannot help but organize things for maximum performance. The closet entrepreneur, the stats-geek, Is that you? if so...welcome to your dream game (we hope!)
The key to understanding production line is the division of labor and the merits of purpose-built machinery. At the start, your factory will be small and the individual slots on your production line will carry out large complex tasks (like fitting the car body). As you research better methods, and earn the funds to expand, you will continue to subdivide those slots into smaller (and faster) production areas which keep the flow of new vehicles flowing smoothly. At the same time, product design researchers will be working out how to enhance your cars with new technologies such as automatic headlights, power steering, bluetooth phone support and voice recognition.
its a race to be productive AND a race to be profitable. Are you ready to compete?

It's kinda fun, gets boring kind of quickly after you have figured it out. They don't seem to be maintaining the game anymore and it's not the best UI. It has a steep learning curve and i feel that the AI companies ramp up too quickly but overall the game is prettty decent, I have logged over 400hrs playing it so i cannot say i hadn't enjoyed it.2 found this helpful
Alot of fun, I work in automotive manufacturing and its like the real thing just with less lazy people1 found this helpful
This is exactly what I wanted, an actual, 100% factory sim. No resource extraction, no automation base building colony sim or anything like that, just you managing and making a factory and nothing else. I kinda love that
Even though I havent played much, this game is such a cool car manufacturing game. I first saw this game on GrayStillPlays's channel and I thought, "damn this game looks fun" and after trying it myself I can say it really is fun.
Good game but we need a second!!!
28 hours in, and loving it. You can actually see the parts on the screen moving about. Not all other car manufacture games do that. Cool that the game developer has youtube videos explaining things about the game. Bought the game in 2026 even though it was released in 2019, so I get to see all the requests users asked for and when I'm playing the game I see so much of it implemented. Factorio is not the first thing that comes to mind when I play this game, though I have that game. Efficiency is a big part of the game. The opposing AI players aren't 'visible' to you, but you do get to see what techs they are researching. The way the game plays out, you are supposed to work on efficiency and cost effectiveness before car features, if you want to get ahead of the AI and be profitable. There are loans if you run out of money - it seems you can have up to 4 at a time. I think earlier there was no loan option at all, which was one of the areas the developer showed he was listening to the community. So many nice info graphs and charts, but not overwhelmingly too many. Very meaningful. You can import parts or make them yourself - the game charts make it easy to see that. So much time a…
