Poor showing through a poor translation
I absolutely love River Town Factory, the previous game in the series. A massively ambitious game blending so many genres together it is still one of the most fulfilling I've played in this past decade. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Big Winner and it has one major, unavoidable cause: the extremely poor quality of the English translation. Whereas RTF had Engrish that you could see as quaint, it at the least did not negatively impact gameplay. In BW though? It reads as utter gibberish intersperced with Engrish, which has a major impact on one's ability to play. The core of this game revolves around the titular form of gambling (3 card poker if you will) in a weird dystopian setting where the collapse of the economy caused gambling for everything to be the norm. There's many minigames and once again it is a game that does show what the iFaction engine can do, but since the translation is abysmally bad, it ultimately becomes a slog of flailing and flopping about. The game is not pricey, but the tldr of it is: unless you're fluent in Chinese it gets unplayable pretty damn quick. The English translation simply is not a…3 found this helpful
I didn't know what I was expecting when I got this game. I just read the premise, and that sounded like nothing I've ever played before. Basically, you're living in a dystopia where luck determines everything. Your work wages are lottery tickets. The food you buy from grocery markets are lottery tickets. Street food is determined by lottery tickets. Even the clothes you can acquire are through lottery tickets. There's a complete social hierarchy based off how lucky you are as a citizen. So, as you've probably guessed, curiosity lured me in, but what made me stay? It was a combination of Yakuza x Balatro gameplay. Yep, you've heard that right. Yakuza x Balatro. Two games I've never expected to get mixed together.
Life Sim Gameplay
You're probably wondering why I pick Yakuza as part of the Life Sim part of the gameplay. The Yakuza part comes in where everything is all focused in on a single city, filled to the brim with NPC's, silly sidequests, mini-games, and hilarious cutscenes with the occasional tear jerker. Progression points are marked out to you on the minimap and you go there at certain times during the day after achieving certain objectives. This includes some m…2 found this helpful
It's not gambling if you can cheat, or just load your save file, and you have to cheat because the social elites have crazy luck in this game2 found this helpful
This game should be more popular than it is! It is so good! Is it a bit cheesy a little but that is what makes it amazing! It is like Stardew Valley & Luck Be A Landlord met up had a kid this would be it. Romance? You got it! Drama? IN SPADES! Finding out you have a serious gambling addiction because of this! Yes Yes and more yes! Take a chance on this game I barely scratch the surface and I have already 6 hours in it!1 found this helpful

if you like this level of graphic game and you like story-line game then you would like this game with a little bit of gambling. This game is fun even though there's some bug that really helpful to complete this game. overall 9/10 for me.
