About Blades, Bows and Magic

A minimalist card battler with cunningly complex tactics and surprising results.

The 'magic' of Blades, Bows & Magic is in discovering the interesting interactions of the cards, depending on their placement and abilities, often resulting in unexpected outcomes. The cards you choose, and where you place them in your formation versus your opponent really matters. It starts with our simple core RPS mechanic - Warrior beats Archer beats Mage beats Warrior - this determines your basic tactical approach with 'who kills who' and 'when abilities trigger'.Then we've layered the gameplay with a variety of cards, each with their own unique abilities, including an array of champions to fight, who wield their own battle-changing powers. You'll take turns in the singleplayer campaign and PvP multiplayer challenges, attacking and defending against your opponent to determine the victor.

Game Modes

 • 🗡️ Singleplayer Campaign Progression: Unlock new cards, each with their own unique ability, as you march your army across the battlefields of the Stormvale Isles.
 • ⚔️ Online PvP Multiplayer: Battle against other players, or challenge your friends directly to prove your superior strategies.
📯 See you on the battlefield!

A fun little RPS themed fantasy game. Nothing crazy, but a respectable project with a price that I think nobody can truly argue against. If you see this, just buy it.

A fun game. The great thing is that the game doesn't require the extra account to play single player.

I've had more time with the game since launch and my opinion of it only continues to improve. Mind you, this is solely a review of the PvE side, but that's where the learning curve begins anyhow. A rock-paper-scissors scenario sounds straightforward, sure. But what if we introduce abilities? What if some cards revive, summon, or steal other cards? What if there are shields involved? Or death curses? Then what if we throw Champion card abilities on top of that??? The fine folks of Funk Games gladly answered all of those questions in a surprisingly fast and friendly manner here. You will spend a number of hours talking to yourself, trying to strategize the turn orders and effects to make sure you get that "one more match" done, and it never ends up feeling like a chore, which is a delicate balance to strike. All in all, it's a very satisfying game for the asking price that starts with a simple premise and ends in enjoyable chaos.

This game is really good, one of the first card-based games i played, pretty easy to progress in the beggining ,but gets harder when you reach Nexarus and War Chief Lazgub. It really increased my interest in this genre, also liked the graphics, together with the music they made a cozy ambience =)

I actually really liked the moment-to-moment gameplay of Blades, Bows & Magic. Coming up with a strategy to counter my opponent's lineup was an engaging puzzle that had me regularly trying to not just find a solution, but to optimize things so I could get as many hits on my opponent's champion as possible. It had me cheering when my plans paid off and cursing when things didn't go my way, and I was surprised at just how frequently I could turn a bad situation into something that was at minimum acceptable. Unfortunately, the rules are incredibly lacklustre when it comes to clarifying how card effects will interact with one another, meaning you'll constantly find yourself guessing as to how weird edge cases might play out or straight-up losing a fight unexpectedly due to circumstances you had no way of preparing for. Add to this a multiplayer mode that seems dead on arrival, and there's a good chance you'll find yourself getting frustrated before long. I can't lie: I still got a lot of enjoyment out of my time with the game, and if you can look past the chaos introduced by the incomplete rules, there's a pretty fun autobattler hidden underneath. Plus, with the devs already…
