About BLEAK: Welcome to Glimmer
Having spent his life locked inside, protected by his sister, and hidden from an extremely hostile world, a young Sourcer named “Bleak” passed the time using his creativity and ingenuity to rebuild a destroyed C.O.G. surveyor robot name "Glitch". When his sister, Asha is discovered and arrested, Bleak emerges with Glitch by his side into this unfamiliar and overwhelming terrain. Can you traverse it?

"BLEAK: Welcome to Glimmer" is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. This platformer has you controlling a guy called "Bleak", was very badly made with sloppy jumping mechanics, badly designed maps, no checkpoints, godawfully bad technical presentation... the pricing on this compared to the actual quality is an excercise in delusion. Platforming is an old, mostly dead genre, and this lacklustre experience, while it doesn't have an upfront cost, isn't saving the genre... it's no surprise this failed to capture any attention from gamers in the era of immersive 3D gaming. On the topic of visuals, the weak looking 2D retro assets seem like they'd be more at home in a browser game or a mobile app. 3D graphics accelerators hit the mainstream of PC gaming in the mid 1990's with cards like the ATI Rage and Voodoo3D, there's no excuse for such poor 2D graphics in 2025. Сюжет, поданный через диалоги и окружение, достаточно медлителен и рассчитан на внимательных игроков. Он подкупает своей неоднозначностью иставляет после себя много вопросов. Геймплей, в основном, состоит из исследования локаций, решения простых головоломок и общения с немногочисленными персонажами. Отдельно стоит отметить восхитительный саундтрек, который идеально дополняет визуальную составляющую и создает неповторимую атмосферу безысходности и надежды одновременно. Игра не для всех, она скорее для тех, кто ценит медитативный геймплей и атмосферные истории, нежели экшен и напряжение. Если вы любите игры, заставляющие задуматься и окунуться в необычные миры, то 'BLEAK: Welcome to Glimmer' определенно стоит вашего внимания. Это красивое и запоминающееся приключение, которое останется в вашей памяти надолго.
