About BloodRayne Betrayal: Fresh Bites
Original developer WayForward has upgraded its 2011 classic 2D hack ‘n slash platformer with high resolution visuals, modern features, and all-new voice acting performed by original BloodRayne cast members Laura Bailey (Rayne) and Troy Baker (Kagan). Bloodrayne Betrayal: Fresh Bites distills the best parts of the BloodRayne series into a bloody, twitchy, action-packed 2D hack ‘n slash adventure through fifteen challenging stages.
The Brimstone Society has summoned Rayne for one last mission to lead a group of soldiers into a giant underground castle to do battle against none other than her own father, Kagan. When the soldiers prove ineffective against Kagan’s supernatural menaces, it’s up to Rayne to run, jump, cut, and feed her way through gruesome foes, deadly traps, tricky platforming sections, and horrifying bosses. It’s Rayne’s last job — will she “clean house” or find herself six feet under?

- All-new A-List voice acting: Original BloodRayne cast members Laura Bailey and Troy Baker reprise their roles as Rayne and Kagan, alongside other talented voice actors who bring new life to the original written dialog.

- Higher resolution character sprites, and support for HD displays (up to 4K) help make Fresh Bites the definitive Bloodrayne Betrayal experience.
- New difficulty options: Play with a newly rebalanced difficulty tuned for a fun and engaging experience, or sink your teeth into the punishing original difficulty mode if you’re looking for a tough-as-nails challenge.

This was quite miserable. It's the same bullshi controls as the original version, difficulty rebalance doesn't help when you still don't have responsive controls. The only new things you get here are: the return of Rayne's VA (and all the little dialogue this game has is now fully voiced while original game had zero voiceover), and a bunch of new achievements. That's about it really, the rest of the game is same as legacy version. It's almost like original's version budget was a couple of ramens given to a Wayforward C-team, while this version's budget just went to the paycheck for Laura Bailey.15 found this helpful
Give this game a chance. It is INCREDIBLE Despite being 2D, the game has complex combat, with several possibilities for movement, combos, and shooting. Extremely fluid gameplay, once you learn to use the dash you become a demon with blades. The game was made to be challenging, and that’s what makes it so fun. Trust me, this game is unforgettable. Vai por mim, esse game é inesquecível.2 found this helpful
Man this game is just not it. It's a shame because you rarely get to play as the monster in video games. I want to suck blood! It's awesome! This game, unfortunately, gets the very basics all wrong with ultra, ultra clunky controls. Rayne is just not fun to control which makes essentially every interaction, from combat to platforming (and really that's all there is) feel bad. Frustrating. The music is also like the buttest of butt metal. And I don't really think it changes? It just generically chugs. The graphics are really great, but sadly, that lends to the poor control feeling as it seems they're so obsessed with forcing these long animations to play out that you feel like you're dragging through sand. If you think I'm being hyperbolic, the achievement list says it all--less than 20% of players got a mandatory achievement for getting to, I think, level 5? The part where you play as a raven. Yeah. The vast majority of players dropped off before this. We deserve a better vampire game. So far the best I've played (I think) is Vampyr, but sadly that's more of a story-focused rpg than an action game.2 found this helpful
Definitely has downsides but it's an okay sidescroller with nice combo and art style.1 found this helpful

My recommendation for this game comes with a drop of poison. If you are a fan of the franchise and character, you will probably be dissapointed with the setting and plot of this game, as it could have completely been launched with different protagonist and weapon and still receive the following review: This game will take your full attention to move through it, and being capable to endure your frustration, to have it push you forward defeating the difficult and frenetic challenges it packs. I wasn't ready for it. I am not capable to remember if I enjoyed it, yet the satisfaction of finishing it (when it was first launched in xbox360) was rewarding in the end.
