Originally released in 1991 by Artech Digital Entertainment, Blue Max: Aces of the Great War is a classic flight simulator that takes you right into the fray as a World War I flying ace. Choose from 8 different planes, such as Fokkers, Sopwiths, Spads to take down enemy planes or capture surveillance behind enemy lines. If real time flying simulators aren’t your thing, Blue Max can also change dogfights into strategic turn-based battles, taking your challenge out of the sky and onto a 3D tactical map.

BlueMAX: Aces of the Great war is a great retro game and amazing for its time. The controls are not shown to the starter without proper research, however when you learn them its quite easy to use it. The Graphics... are as good as retro games hold. \ But, I wish there was more campaign levels, but this game is far left behind. Propably wont get another update, but if it does, i will totally play it. Additional notes (less important): the hardest thing in the game is the deceleration and the landing. The key to decelerate was difficult to find and landing itself is a hard task.13 found this helpful
Its not anywhere as good as Red Baron or Flying Corps Gold, but this title still has an atmosphere to it i like, and challenge and some unique concepts. I know that overall though its probably down low on teh list of WW1 aviation sims, but i like it nonetheless.1 found this helpful
Well... Its not Exactly Red Baron or Wings of Glory or Knights of the Sky or Wings but its okay I guess. A classic with strategic as well as action modes. Its more of an arcade flying sim with hot seat multiplayer as well as only three campaigns. RATING 5/101 found this helpful
