Players praise this classic dungeon crawler for its nostalgic charm, strong D&D atmosphere, clever puzzle design, and innovative party-splitting mechanic that adds strategic depth to combat and exploration. However, complaints focus on its dated and amateurish art style, overly harsh survival mechanics (particularly the food and water starvation system that can feel arbitrary and punishing), and bare-bones presentation that may not appeal to those seeking modern accessibility or polish.
Absolute legend. I played that as a kid with my father. So we are now playing it again. Remembering all the old tricks and puzzels. Great game design, strong D&D vibes and catchy music. <31 found this helpful
Classic and suprisingly timeless given how simple in its core it is... cant recommend, there are gamebreaking bugs related to puzzles, that will leave you absolutely clueless and unless youre speaking czech, good luck trying to find a solution on internet... shame. i wont ever recommend broken games the game doesnt explain almost anything, like what those spells you cast actually do... this should be ingame and i shouldnt bother myself googling the simple explanations... while i appreciate the compatibility, it is obvious that the ingame manual should have been part of the game in options.... the combat itself is also a joke, there is clear initiative of all enemies and your characters, but its all random number generator, you will never know how to sequence your turn properly, because it doesnt make any sense, once you start encountering enemies, that will run away from you, you will know what i mean... basically you set actions and then you watch the turn unfold... bartering is so stupid yet so complicated if you look at the numbers behind the process in a guide... basic stat redistribution is also a mystery to me (health, mana) when you make your characters you basically s…
Not recommended, very overrated for what it is, a basic bare bones blobber with a very basic and amateurish art direction, seems made in MS paint. Very questionable (read wtf) mechanics even a ridiculous (for a blobber) food/water starvation system which is with absolutely bizarre and out of place, your strolling along and a random character starts to die bit by bit like if it were poison, so you guess guy is poisoned, maybe they'll make their saving throw or smt, but guess what it's not poison, character is thirsty, so he loses hit point by hit point till dead, if you try to use all the ♥♥♥♥ you picked up you deduce he was thirsty, good, that was the only water bottle, so 5 steps later another character decides to go thirsty and soon enough everyone dies, seems the game world is a sub-Saharan desert with MS paint trees plastered on the background for esthetic purposes, dev couldn't even bother to make a pdf manual to explain all this ♥♥♥♥. Then you have all the interesting ctd because the programming is obviously stellar. smh. This reissue apparently was freeware until they decided to sell it on steam to those who had bought the original game back in 98 for nostalgia effect, so m…
Very fun blobber (turn based, grid based), with an interesting gimmick of being able to split the party into 2 or more blobs to solve puzzles and strategically win fights. Recommended if you're looking for a classic crawler. Quite a few challenging puzzles too, but you can get some help from the steam guides. I explored every nook and cranny in 30 hours.
Brány Skeldalu is a classic fantasy role-playing game developed by Napoleon Games and published by Jindřich Skeldal that brings an old-school dungeon-crawling experience back into the spotlight for modern players. Originally released in the late 1990s and later reintroduced to a broader audience, the game represents a style of RPG design that values patience, exploration, and thoughtful progression over convenience and accessibility. Rather than adapting itself entirely to contemporary trends, it embraces traditional mechanics and creates an adventure that feels firmly rooted in the era of classic computer role-playing games. Set within the mystical land of Rovenland, the story centers around an approaching catastrophe connected to dangerous magical forces threatening the stability of the world. Five powerful mages attempt to open a forbidden gateway tied to mysterious dimensions and destructive power beyond human control. To prevent disaster, heroes are summoned to travel across dangerous territories, uncover hidden truths, and eventually confront the growing darkness before irreversible destruction consumes everything. The narrative structure follows familiar fantasy foundation…
