About 7 Mages
The oppressed peasants on Roven Island hire seven mages to protect their homes and crops.
The legendary Roven Island is said to be the place where the gods rested after they created the world. The earth, water and air there are still imbued with magic, which lures magic prospectors. These prospectors conduct savage raids at regular intervals on one of the unnamed villages on the island, robbing the hard-working peasants of most of their harvest. And so, one day, the peasants put together the last of their coin and hire the mages to protect them.
The epic RPG 7 Mages in the tradition of the greatest classics of the genre takes you around the magical island of Roven. You will visit gloomy crypts beneath the city, cross an icy mountain pass, submerge beneath the surface of the ocean and venture into the guts of a dead dragon. And lots more too! The game offers unique and very tactical turn-based combat with the option to split up your team, use combat magic, elemental magic and all-new musical magic.

This is a game I really tried to like. I normally do like games like this, but the game mechanics and game design are flawed. The game is just not much fun to play. The combat is slow and tedious . It is sometimes hard to make any progress and develop your characters. It takes quite a while to get use to the game play mechanics. Some of the puzzles are not very obvious and are more trial and error than logic. So you can spend hours trying to get through an area but get nowhere because you have done something wrong or missed something. It all adds to a game that is just not much fun to play. It is a game that with a bit more thought and better game design and balancing could have quite good. I am very surprised that the people who produced this game also made Gates of Skeldal. That game, although older, is vastly superior.2 found this helpful
Though it doesn't stand out much at first glance, this is actually a damn good dungeon crawler with a unique feel that I regret waiting so long to play. The most unusual mechanic here is being able to split the party. I expected this to be more of a novelty, but it's well-used. Positioning is crucial during combat, and a number of puzzles require you to be in multiple places at once. This breaks with the usual blob paradigm and requires you to think of the party as individual agents. I would have liked to see it go even further, such as a dungeon that must be explored by two independent groups at the same time. Music is another interesting mechanic. The stock bard trope has been expanded so that any character can play music in lieu of actively fighting, with each song supported by one or more types of instruments. The more unique instruments you devote to a song, the stronger its effects. These songs are quite powerful, so you'll always want at least one character performing in combat. Despite the large variety of songs, though, there are a few that are by far the most important. I almost always used the single-instrument looter song during combat, which increases enemie…1 found this helpful
There are plenty of better and less clunky dungeon crawlers but if you like the genre it is worth a play.1 found this helpful

Good Dungeon Crawler
Meh. Feels like a mobile game. Not really good at anything. Annoying mechanics and character development. 4/10
