About Breathless
Breathless is an immersive virtual reality train ride through a dystopian landscape. At it's core, Breathless is a music video created by electronic artist Croom featuring the vocal work of Berlin based experimental artist, Audriana Acuña. Anchoring it is the masterful mixing work of Dylan Cameron (S U R V I V E, Troller), with his knack for bringing out exquisite and impactful bass without cluttering the haunting vocals and masterer Jess Labrador (Chasms).
Croom worked with 3d environmental artists from around the world to help bring his vision to life. Hasan Zeki Göğebakan from Istanbul, Turkey was the lead developer.
This is a short VR music video experience, not a game. Users can view 360 degree angles, listening to the original song, while sitting stationary on a simulated train ride. The Oculus 2 controls only the exit, pause, and start functions.
This VR experience requires an Oculus 2 headset, Windows 10, and an Oculus Link connection enabled.
Experienced on the Meta Quest 2 Using Link Cable
This is a less than 3 minute, purely cinematic experience, basically a VR music video. I really liked the artistic vision and I loved the music (Croom, ft. vocals from Audriana Acuna). Unfortunately, this experience has so many technical issues that take away from the artistic vision. The actual experience is not so great. The biggest problem is optimization. This experience runs very poorly. It's running on the Unity Engine and I was getting variable frame rates around 50 fps on my RTX 3080. Which is weird because the experience is basically low-texture and mono-chrome so that really shouldn't be happening. So you get re-projection. You get pop-in. You get shadows dancing in and out. I found that if you just look straight ahead and don't look around, the issues are less noticeable. Still, it's a shame because it really sours the artistic experience. Despite that, if you're into experimental art experiences, I recommend this download. It's free. The artists are wonderful. Too bad the programming is held up by duct tape apparently. [b]Rate ?/10.
Before I played Breathless, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
1 found this helpful
I love VR experiences and am always grateful for them whether free or paid. There aren't too many available that are true VR. This was free. It was short. I spent a half hour trying to get it working for what felt like 2 to 3 minutes. The music was nice but that's it. Quest 2, have to set in Oculus to primary OpenXR runtime. Wouldn't work for me otherwise. Also would not work with Virtual Desktop or Airlink. Had to be Oculus Link. Ran it straight through Oculus library. Running through Steam produces some sounds but black screen for me. Lots of effort and she didn't let me finish.1 found this helpful
