About Bugtopia
Hello everyone! We're a small indie team of three from China, and we're obsessed with bugs. But as digital nomads, we can't keep real insects long-term—so we turned our screens into virtual terrariums!
That's how Bugtopia was born: a cozy idler where you can raise, breed, and collect bugs without any real-life limits.
We hope it brings you the same joy we felt from petting bugs! Bugtopia is a unique idler featuring not just one, but over 300 lovingly crafted bug species - all based on real-life counterparts! From bioluminescent wonders to chirpy little critters, we've given each insect an adorable artistic makeover while preserving their real-world charm.
The game introduces a special breeding/mating system - simply place two bugs in the breeding box and wait patiently for exciting new (and sometimes rare!) species to emerge.
With deep respect for nature, we've included some endangered and even extinct insects, built encyclopedia entries for every species. We hope players will grow to appreciate these tiny lives through our game.To let your bugs live in a cozy, comfortable and personalized terrarium environment, we've created a highly free DIY landscaping system.
20+ Terrarium types, 70+ water & soil and wallpaper options, 300+ landscaping items, 700+ evolving states that gradually unlock through idle gameplay. With countless combination possibilities, you can create ever-changing terrarium landscapes tailored to your preferences!The terrarium features 5 time periods and 4 weather conditions. From dawn to night, from sunny days to drizzles and misty weather, your terrarium is full of vitality and changes. Additional features include desktop wallpaper mode and pomodoro timer. Other little functions and easter eggs are coming up for perfect companions, for both work and leisure time.Place a little piece of nature on your desktop - watch foxtails grow lush, moss cover stones, dotted with cute bugs and their soothing chirps. It's kinda grindy but HUGE, a bugton of insects (or faaaaar relatives), and the genetics are quite clear (and no bs with 0.00001% chances). With that price? Shut up and take my money.gif.1 found this helpful
Love this game, love the art, 10/10 I love breeding for new pretty variants and efforts are rewarded once you get every variant with new backgrounds and water types. Very good mix of idle and active gaming, I recommend, especially if you like bugs.1 found this helpful
I absolutely love this game and am obsessed with the amount of bugs and also their color variations. Overall though it is an amazing game and I plan on enjoying my lil dudes for a very long time!1 found this helpful
Bugtopia is a super cute idle game where you buy, raise, breed, and sell bugs to earn money to unlock the next breed of bug (or fish) to place in your tank and/or buy decorations. This game took me about a week to play and achievement hunt, only "technically" stretching my playtime to two weeks since there's an achievement for not logging in for seven days. I enjoyed my time with the game, but I have a few minor complaints. I think breeding needs to be tweaked a bit because currently the cocoon phase is the most boring part of waiting in this game. The increase in income you get from them in exchange for not being able to speed them up is abysmal. I understand that, realistically, you wouldn't be able to feed a cocoon, but I think the timer should be cut to half of what it currently is. I also think the option to delete eggs should be added because, when breeding several of the same bug, I might get my next upgrade out of all eight tanks, but now I have to wait for the eggs to hatch just so I can yeet them and move my next breeding pair in. My second complaint is about tank decor. I think you should be able to layer items in the tanks. I understand this might cause s…
I adore this game! I really didn't think I'd love it as much as I do! I'm 2 acheivements away from 100%ing, because I've not focused enough on breeding for rarity (well, I am now!) but I've sunk so many hours into this game just to watch my bugs! I love having it run in the background whilst working or reading. The music is really relaxing too. There was a week where I didn't log on (for the achievement) and honestly, it was sooo difficult not to open the game to check up on how my little critters were doing!
Cozy and has a huge range of bugs to raise & breed for cool morphs :) Plenty of unlockable and purchasable items, backgrounds, and even water/soil colours that give you a lot of control over how your vivariums look! Incredibly fun to decorate and to watch the bugs. You can actively participate by feeding the bugs to grow them faster, or just leave the game alone for hours and check back. Relaxing to have on in the background while doing work.
