Cabin Corpse - Season 1

This game is missing basically every QOL feature that makes VNs enjoyable to play. Maybe a 1.0 release will resolve that, but until basic functionality is in place, I would hold off.

There's a lot of ambition in here-- an original visual novel engine with locations that change as time passes and characters that move to new locations. It feels like these characters are moving and exist even when they aren't on screen. Though the writing is where I'd like it to be. The men in this game specifically come across as thoroughly chauvinist, at one point commenting on one woman's lesbianism as being appealing to "some guys." I know this is a labor of love with tons of pre-rendered art the developer created so I don't want to be too harsh. It could use some love on the writing side. I'm hoping to see it grow as it moves through Early Access and become a more thoroughly rounded story worthy of all the ambition it clearly has. There is already hours worth of playtime available and if you want to support the developer and see how it evolves, definitely give it a look.

It manages to blend thriller narrative elements with NSFW content in a way that feels surprisingly natural and well-crafted, a combination rarely pulled off this effectively. The sandbox structure is a great choice: the tasks never feel overwhelming or tedious, which makes completing them genuinely enjoyable rather than a chore. It strikes a good balance between freedom and progression. What really stands out though is the character writing and the soundtrack. Both are exceptionally well done, the characters feel alive and layered, and the music perfectly underlines every emotional beat. I can't wait to see how the story concludes!

I'm just not feeling it. The art is decent, not top notch, but good, but I'm two and a half hours in and haven't even gotten past a level one relationship and have absolutely no stamina. WTH. Spending all day pushing the wait tab to get to needed scenes that can actually push the story forward. It might be better if there were some hints as to where to go - other than the meet/talk xxx in the xxx which never shows up as an option. Sorry, but I had to move this to my "Not Impressed" category. Would consider a revisit if they ever provided a decent walkthrough. Too bad - it started out promising enough.
