Carly and the Reaperman features an inventive asymmetrical VR and PC cooperative concept that some players find engaging, but the game suffers from significant technical issues including VR freezing, rendering glitches, unintuitive control schemes, and Linux compatibility problems that frustrate players early on. While the core cooperative puzzle-platformer idea appeals to some, numerous reports of bugs, poor menu navigation, and game-breaking visuals have left many players unable to progress past the first levels, leading to regret about purchases they can no longer refund.
I dont think this game is ready to be compatible in the market, I havent not been able to get past the first level, alwys freezes on the VR, meta3, it should be having any issues, I wish I could refund it but its way past already since I took to long to try it out. Please check if your vr works, if not, refund i
Carly and the Reaperman is a cooperative puzzle-platformer developed and published by Odd Raven Studios that stands out for its imaginative concept and inventive use of asymmetrical gameplay. Set in a whimsical version of the underworld, the game follows Carly, a daring young girl who seeks to ascend from the realm of lost souls, and her unlikely companion, the Reaperman—a towering skeletal figure who guides her path. Together, the two must work in harmony to overcome obstacles, solve puzzles, and navigate intricate levels that rely on communication, coordination, and trust. The premise sounds simple, but what makes the game so engaging is how it blends two very different perspectives and play styles into one cohesive experience that feels both intuitive and deeply cooperative. The design of Carly and the Reaperman thrives on its core mechanic of asymmetrical teamwork. Carly, controlled in third person, embodies the agile, hands-on platforming half of the duo, jumping between ledges, collecting items, and avoiding traps. The Reaperman, in contrast, controls the environment from a higher, almost omniscient perspective, manipulating platforms, moving objects, and creating pathways f…
greate asymmetric vr\pc coop
Nope, not for me. Maybe it's for younger players? After the third or fourth time she asked for a high five (for no reason) I just stopped playing and uninstalled it.
im telling you just how i feellllllll
TL;DR: Game is jank and too old, and does not work on Linux. - Game does not work properly, there is a huge white square in front of the game, it seems to be stuck relative to headset position, effectively blinding in middle of face towards front (where the main menu / cutscene text was) - Gamepad did not work through Steam Remote Play - Menu controls are stupid, you have to grip and ungrip over and over to click buttons, no wonder the negative reviews were confused about "being stuck at the menu" thinking you could use the trigger or the face buttons, but no you have to squeeze the valve index controller grip while pointing lol - I tried several versions of proton, from experimental to proton GE and the white square just doesn't go away in any of them. - Gamepad worked locally but after testing I could not open the pause menu, I was stuck in-game. - Also the control scheme on the "how to play" showed the very old HTC vive controller, which kinda explains why the screen prompt to open the menu didn't work.
