About Carrier Command

Take Command of the latest Multi-role Assault Carrier. Fly highspeed strikes against enemy forces, deploy powerful amphibious tanks into combat as you assault islands from the sea and capture key islands, customise your fighting vehicles with a massive variety of weapons and sensors in your onboard Carrier stores. Manage your logistic supply lines between islands to support your fighting effort moving forward. Use your tactical map to plan the campaign, spy on the supply lines of your enemy, defend your carrier against relentless attacks.

From the depths of the ocean, vast energies force molten lava to the surface, leaving volcanic islands to cool in the steaming waters. This new land offers a rich supply of elements and materials exhausted elsewhere on the planet and vital to continued life. It is no surprise to learn that a foreign power is attempting to occupy the islands and grab the resources exclusively for themselves.

Classic version and still as fun as it was back then. You need it in your collection if you played this back in the day. I made a simple guide to help you get the mouse cursor under control. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3345432391

Classic Carrier Command from the 80's. The newer Carrier Command games are better by today's standards but the original game is still good and worth checking out if you can get it on sale for under a fiver. The text is easier to read if you play at 4:3 ratio but there is a launcher with various display and scaling settings. I see some other reviews mentioning lack of option to lower mouse sensitivity but there is an in-game option to lower mouse sensitivity aside from the sensitivity setting on the launcher. I lowered it to .75 or .5 sensitivity.

Carrier Command, developed by Realtime Games and MicroProse Software and published by MicroProse Software, is a strategic warfare experience that blends real-time tactics, vehicle command, and logistical management into a single, demanding package. Rooted in the legacy of the influential late-1980s original, this modern incarnation preserves the core idea of placing the player in full control of a massive mobile carrier while updating the concept for contemporary systems and expectations. Rather than focusing on isolated missions or scripted scenarios, the game presents a broad, open-ended campaign where success depends on foresight, resource control, and the ability to coordinate multiple combat systems simultaneously. At the heart of the experience is the carrier itself, which functions as both your most valuable asset and your central hub of operations. From its command interface, you oversee the deployment of aircraft, amphibious tanks, and support vehicles, directing them toward objectives spread across an island-filled theater of war. Every action is tied to the carrier’s capabilities, from launching air strikes to ferrying ground units ashore. This creates a constant sense …

TL;DR: Dated, sure, but a true classic. Recommended. Full review The premise is simple. You control a robotic carrier with four aircraft (aerial drones) and four assault vehicles (amphibious drones) and move from island to island to capture them and build up your resources. The AI opponent carrier is doing the same from the opposite corner. Straightforward, solid gameplay. The graphics are late 80s VGA. The sound is late 80s SoundBlaster. Are there more glamorous titles? Sure. But here's why I am recommending it... Game design Carrier Command has amazing game design. It distils the essence of the game, and removes all the distractions. The number of units is enough to be a handful, but without being totally overwhelming. The complexity of the units is sufficient to give you options, but without wasting your time with excess baggage. The UI is simple and low-resolution, but it is eminently practical. Like chess, tetris and other classics, you don't need photo-realistic graphics to convey stunning gameplay. Relevance Commanding a robotic carrier with four aerial drones was 36 years ahead of its time. In December 202…

Loved the original, but this has a game killing bug. Firstly I stopped being able to manufacture command centre pods. I carried on, just using virus bombs, but towards the end of the game using these crashes the game completely, especially if I wreck the enemy carrier. Hope the devs fix it!
