Castle Wonders - A Castle Tale

Now, you might be wondering why I'm not recommending this game after having played for 18 hours. Well... That's precisely the reason why. Even after all that time, I still had the impression that I wasn't even close to completing all the stuff that can be completed in the game. And the problem here is, that the game doesn't really change. There's a few different levels, but that's it. After you unlock all the levels, you just have to play each one of them countless times to very, very slowly acquire materials you need to craft stuff or complete all different "modes" of each hidden object scene. The game becomes a chore. You just have to "grind" a lot and your progress is extremely slow. I normally enjoy playing hidden object games, but I think with this game the developers were just too ambitious and wanted to offer many different mechanics or minigames or whatever, but by doing so, they just made the game incredibly tedious.

Yet another mehhh ... but have to go negative. Its cheap and lazy mobile port with bugs. Now I understand the time sink motive on these things, but at a certain point its just tedious. Bug example - when trades happen your gold doesn't change. The hidden object varieties were kind of fun which is why I wasted my time for as long as I did - but its not very good looking and really needs steam achievements. Got this in a bundle at some point and was going through my backlog - but I wouldn't buy it separately.

This has the feel of a microtransaction mobile game (though it doesn't actually do microtransactions). Extremely repetitive and artificial blockers in way of progression. (Via repetitions and time). The hidden objects scenes themselves are good, but not good enough to be worth playing 30+ times each.

I never thought I would spend over 20 hours on a hidden object game. While the hidden object genre is new to me, I can tell that this is a solid title. There is depth to this game. There is varied gameplay and motivation to continue, such as purchasables and unlockables.
