Lost Grimoires 3: The Forgotten Well had a tough task ahead reaching the quality of the previous parts since both its predecessors, especially the great first one set the bar high. In several aspects it succeeds: there are twists, likeable and relatively complex characters (for a hidden object game), but at times the game sinks into boredom, after the eventful start, when we hunt for alchemic formulas and necessary ingredients to overcome some obstacles - literally, like a fallen tree or a pile of debris with nothing actually happening. The half-baked ending promising a further sequel (that was never made) doesn't help either. We play as a nameless princess dabbling in alchemy whose brother, the king fights evil treemen, called the Tangled Ones threatening the kingdom. In his absence, we rule and after receiving letters with good news regarding the outcome of the war, we arrange preparations. However instead of the victorious army, the Tangled Ones approach the city walls. Our journey to defeat their leader begins. Besides the usual hidden object scenes - w…

I mean............it's not going to revolutionize the world of Hidden Object games.......but it's a solid enough entry, and it's world's better than Brave Giant's games (also published by the once great Artifex Mundi). The graphics are acceptable at least as far as the background/scenery goes, and the character artwork isn't awful (it's not great either!), the animations are admittedly pretty weak, the plot is hopelessly average, as is the voice-acting (do they really only have four or five voice actors who work on these games?!?! You will definitely recognize a few of the voices used, and they're in almost every other hidden object game published by Artifex Mundi....), but the mini-games and hidden object puzzles are pretty darned decent with plenty of variety, including some you may not have seen before. So, I ultimately did enjoy the game, but only buy it on sale; it's not bad, but it's not great either. Tentatively recommended.

Nice background graphic and story. The puzzles feels randomly combined and illogical at times, easy to miss elements and progress by attempts.

Lost Grimoires 3: The Forgotten Well, developed by World-Loom and published by Artifex Mundi, continues the fantasy-driven hidden-object adventure series with the same visual charm and accessible puzzle design that have made the franchise a reliable favorite among genre enthusiasts. This installment follows the Alchemist, the protagonist from previous entries, as she embarks on a personal and perilous journey to uncover the mystery behind her brother’s transformation and the curse spreading through their kingdom. The setup may be familiar to long-time Artifex Mundi players—a blend of magic, alchemy, and dark secrets—but the presentation and atmosphere keep it engaging, supported by striking artwork and a brisk narrative pace that ensures players are always moving toward the next discovery. The game’s structure remains rooted in the hidden-object and adventure hybrid that defines Artifex Mundi’s catalogue. Players explore a variety of beautifully illustrated environments, collecting items, solving puzzles, and combining alchemical ingredients to craft potions that advance the story. The alchemy mechanic, a returning feature from earlier titles, serves as both a narrative and gamepl…
