About Cerulean Days
Cerulean Days is the third original visual novel by developer LeafCascade. It had a successful campaign on Kickstarter and is now here on Steam!

2016.
Inre Island.
A seemingly idyllic, modern island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. A constant tranquil breeze along a mild climate, and a well-off society embracing a harmonious way of life. Its citizens often refer to the island as their very own miracle, counting themselves lucky to have been born on it. Tourism is hampered despite Inre being a highly desired travel destination, and for good reason. Not only is it a trip only the rich can afford, a rigorous regime means a special visa is required for entry.

2018.
Over the course of six months, a lethal biological attack claims a significant amount of lives. While tragedy occupies people's minds to the brim, a controlling governmental plan is constructed and put into motion. All to prevent such attacks from ever occurring again. In the following years, Inre Island's citizens face unexpected change from their usual ways. On a somber day—damp, dark, and horrifying—the internet is shut down, leaving the island disconnected from the world around it.

2020 - present.
After a long internet-less spring tinged with uncertainty, a new system to replace it with is introduced. A new "internet" along digital setbacks result in major changes to everyday life. Unable to adapt, many find themselves spiritually stuck in a world that no longer exists.
Suddenly, the island appears shrouded in mysteries. The closed hearts are many. A select few want a way out. But most want to reset and forget.
People who never would've met, meet.
People who never would've loved, love.
An island that had never known sadness, knows it now.
Cerulean Days is set in 2020 and follows two outliers of society—mellow Michael and competent Séverine—as they discover the true effects of 2018. Amidst tragedy of lost friends and family, bonds are grown, solace is found, feelings blossom, truth is discovered, and conspiracies are seemingly unraveled.
Hearts in need of mending await you. Welcome to Inre Island.

Séverine - A creative and intelligent girl working as a professional pastry chef in a luxurious mall. Due to strict schooling and an arduous upbringing, she has a habit of setting a high bar for both herself and those around her. She has a bold side to her, but typically only lets it show around people she's comfortable with. Her past is filled with loneliness but found comfort in chatting with like-minded people online. Due to the changes to Inre Island, and their effects on the social landscape, she is put in a position she's unfamiliar with. And she does not like it.

Grace - A kind-hearted and bubbly woman working at Inre City High School. For three years, she was Michael's homeroom teacher. After a tragic personal crisis of Michael's, Grace offers him all the support a grieving one could wish for. Since that day, they've lived in harmony under the same roof. Since that day, they've found solace in each other's company. Since that day, they've been an uncommon "family".

Rose - A cheerful full-time streamer meets an internet-less society. Confusion about life ensues. Her online community – her everything – is forever gone. Rose is lost and knows not how to get out of the pit she has been put in. And her stubbornness makes everything all the more difficult! Will she adapt? Or will she remain stuck, holding onto fragments of her past?

I think the concept, setting, character design and arts are really cool. I wanted to loved this game, but I just couldn't bring myself to love the writing and the presentation for this game. For short, It felt kind of effortless?. I didn't intended to say that the person working behinds it isn't talented or anything but It just felt soulless? Coming from an Indie developer, I expected more love and care putting into more than this but the result is... underwhelming... Weirdly enough, Blue Archive (a mobile gacha game) is my base line for a good presentation in visual novels. When your game doesn't have such thing as the voice acting going on, at least you should consider some sprite animation/reaction or even some sound effects that would makes this game more bearable to me. Even Doki Doki Literature Club had more effort put together more than this. As I said this game had an interesting concept and setting but being written out in the most frustrating boring box of text I've ever seen. Many characters, sentences combined into a large wall of text, many words with a little meaning to them, it just felt really dry, I felt nothing while I'm reading this game. Also If you're go…3 found this helpful
Another good one from Leaf, if you like his style. This one is the most developed, with a much bigger script. And you can expect a twist at mid-point, Leaf's style. I can't wait for his next project!1 found this helpful
I remember seeing the reviews on steam before starting which made me skeptical but i like supporting indie devs and there good rep on kickstarters and the art looked good and gave it a shot it was a nice ride of a reveal that gave it a cozy feel while something was looming in the shadows especially in the social climate in Irne island, some things a bit short but it resolved itself fast. I only wished they added a gallery and a ost list after clearing it its nice1 found this helpful
When i picked this game up at a local convention i got the chance to talk to both the developer and the artist who made this game happen. They were real nice people and it was nice to get a face attached to the random names in the credits, and for that alone i thank you. While this game is a bit of a mixed bag when it comes down to it, there are things that i genuinely like about it. Can't say it was the smoothes of rides but if they decided to make some kind of sequal i whould probaly check it out.
Cerulean Days is an EOLVN, is unvoiced, and does have an 18+ version (with 1 H-scene per route). I had some issues with the writing and a bit with the art, but I would recommend the VN to anyone interested in the premise of it as a multi-route mystery type of VN, especially if it can be grabbed at a discount, if you're able to look past some of its flaws I'll outline shortly. It is decently written, but it largely feels like it didn't have an editor of any kind as there are some odd phrasings, typos and grammatical errors that likely would've been caught by a second pair of eyes. It also has some issues with continuity that I don't think should happen in a plot driven novel. These issues should be caught and handled either by the scenario writer or the editor (if they exist). For instance, there are time inconsistencies throughout, but it is the worst in Severine's route - arguably fairly major spoiler:
you spend 3 days in one location, 3 days in another, but when you return home you've "only been gone 3 days", 3+3=6. This is arguably a major plot point as it starts to strain credulity about their plan being able to work.
However, the VN is interesting in th…
