My main issue with this game is just that I am not the intended audience. If you like unique rogue-likes with a [i]time-pressure element[/i], you'll probably enjoy Coin Crypt. I tend to panic under pressure and make poor decisions, so I struggled more than I think the intended player would. That said, it does a lot of fun things with many different ideas, and I love trying new characters and seeing what makes them tick. The idea of your 'deck' also being something you can run out of, and spend in shops, is super fascinating.
I've always loved this game and wished it saw more success. I played it a lot more as a standalone download from somewhere else so ignore the playtime. With the way deckbuilders and roguelites have taken off since its release, it feels like Coin Crypt doesn't get its due credit for essentially being first to market. In a just world Greg Lobanov would filthy rich for his many, many foundational gifts to the pantheon of indie games. Despite its quiet reception, Coin Crypt is still absolutely worth playing today, and if you have a Linux-based emulation handheld it has a great port via Portmaster that means you can carry it with you wherever you go.
This is a neat action rougelike. Everything is actively turn based, so you have to be alert and realize how long the coins you have to play take. Neat idea of finding battle coins just to shuffle and use them up against all the enemies you face.
This a fantastic Roguelike with unique gameplay mechanics. It's quite difficult at the start but the meta progression is complex and a lot of fun.
