About ColdSun

*** developed in 15 weeks ***

Cold Sun is a powerful little narrative driven third person stealth adventure where you and your little brother attempt to sneak into the last habitable oasis in a post apocalyptic world.

Created by students at UQAC, Cold Sun is a third person stealth adventure that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world that’s running out of fresh water and is overflowing with garbage (just imagine the Earth in a few decades time). The majority of the world is uninhabitable now and raiders roam the lands looking to steal everything they can from anyone passing by. There is one last habitable oasis, but getting there won’t be easy as it’s well guarded – you’ll need to bribe your way past guards and sneak past raiders as you attempt to get you and your brother to safety.

It takes around 30 minutes to play through Cold Sun and it really impresses with its high quality artwork, exceptional environmental detail and heartfelt narrative. The stealth mechanics are particularly well implemented – offering a nice amount of challenge, but also being forgiving enough to allow you to recover from mistakes. A beautifully crafted little stealth adventure with a lot of heart.

"ColdSun" is one of literally thousands of student projects infesting Steam. It's from UQAC in Quebec. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" made games, we must still question what value such projects have for gamers. As with all student projects, this isn't really a fully fleshed out game, it's just the result of an academic exercise, and as such it has much more limited value as a game than a professionally developed game would have. Educational institutions should not be using Steam as a dumping ground for homework assignments (especially if the students didn't even pass the course). Sure, it helps their marketing and helps the students feel good about themselves, but this is another case of a business putting themselves before the needs of gamers. "Coldsun" is a third-person stealth adventure set in a post-apocalyptic world. You're tasked with sneaking into the last habitable oasis with your brother. The gameplay revolves around stealth mechanics, requiring you to bribe guards and avoid raiders. The students didn't allocate enough time to developing the game (because they're students, and making a game for gamers was not their primary tas…

cant recommend this game it feels so unpolished and not finish ur very fast true the game and only the first part of this game makes any fun to me cause the movement and any controls feels just bad i mean its sadly controller only close to unplayable with mouse and keyboard no menu bad sound settings and the camera control feels annoying cant find any fun with it u can watch thru the map and many points and the very nice looking map feels sad nothing u can do than run from wall hacking enemies with bad ai and on top its very short the best part of the game is the intro and the first 5 minutes if u explore the spawn area a bit there is a day/night and a need of water mechanic both dont feel very good more like some oh we need anything cause reasons all in all more like a waste of time than a good experience !

Nice visuals, simplistic stealth but not bad for students. I did not finish as getting stuck behind a bucket that could be stepped over is poor design, provide a means for the player to escape, whether this is a jump, unstick key or a save at the start of each level...

I strongly advise anyone trying this out to avoid walking over some of the terrain near ground level as you can easily get stuck on it and have to start from the very beginning... this game has basically no save support, lacks a settings or options menu, and there is almost no audio during gameplay. My recommendation hinges solely on the fact that the game is free and the environments are beautiful and well thought out. The story is short and done through finding little collectibles, but it at least offers a nice intro cinematic!
