It felt kind of like a cross between two games that I enjoyed: FTL and Gratuitous Space Battles. A big difference is that you don't get to build/modify individual ships, but you do get to pick which random ships to get added to your fleet. I don't usually play deck-building games, but I rather enjoyed the card-picking aspect of the game. You can use cards in battle to do things like place a shield, launch some extra missiles, or buy different resources which are needed to fire weapons and things. After each randomly generated zone, you get to pick between adding another type of card to the deck, gaining more ships, gaining more resources, or getting a benefit you can use between playthroughs. The game has a lot of details/stats. I gotta admit that I didn't totally understand them until after an hour in, but it was still fun overall despite my making reckless choices without really looking at or necessarily understanding the numbers and icons, and the relationship between the different numbers. I understood it a bit more after 2 playthroughs and going through the tutorial again. It seems that every projectile/beam/missile your ships shoot costs different resources, as does using …6 found this helpful
This is a neat game. It combines some travel elements of FTL with combat similar to a pared-down Gratuitous Space Battles. There's some resource management, cardplay to influence battles, and satisfying meta-progression. It's worth checking out5 found this helpful
I recommend this game because of the potential it has; not the way it is. The game needs some polishing here and there. For example: - Some menus feel like they are prepared for mobile platforms; - The game seems pointless -I don't know where I'm going and why I'm going there. - The loading screens are acceptable; but it makes the game like a clicker simulator if you pass away some sectors. - The fighting system is proven good from games like Gratuitous Space Battles, but the card mechanic usually adds nothing to the fight for you cannot control the units you summon from cards and the game doesn't tell you that you cannot move those units so while trying to click on those units to control them, you usually summon another card that you don't know what it does. I mean, they tell you what they do; but adding 12 HP to a ship which has ??? HP is a little bit strange. - The discovery mechanic is again proven good from FTL; but it mostly feels like a rip off for I don't know why I can't go back. But kudos to the dev team for having a game that works without bugs -at least the way I tried it didn't have any. It just needs a little bit work and I'll revisit this review if the game get…3 found this helpful

Decent little game if a bit overpriced for what it delivers. It can be fun as a blend of autobattler and roguelike jump choices similar to FTL, but leaves room for improvement. Combat is ALMOST there, but is a little fast and doesn't seem to reward actually engaging with it seriously. In similar map-direction choice games (FTL, Slay the Spire, etc) there is always a reward that is proportional to the risk of combat. The main mechanic in Corpoct is your resource management, and combat is almost always a very small, unnoticeable positive or overall net negative, resource additions/expenditures being the only consistent result from any battle. There are occasional additional rewards, but they feel random, and getting the weakest ship in the game as a reward (where its possible to get one of the strongest) feels like a waste because it WILL die in your next fight and there's no way to preserve it or hold it back. All that being said, avoiding combat is boring, and often the events you encounter in trying to avoid it simply push you into combat anyway. Runs for me have devolved into click fests where I try to optimize earning 8-15 of the meta progression points (you need a mini…1 found this helpful
