I just couldn't get into it at all, and the AI didn't help (quick tip: YOU DON'T NEED TO CHANGE SPRITES AT EVERY LINE OF DIALOGUE). The text is too small, there's no game menu... Honestly it made my head hurt and gave me nothing positive. The writing wasn't good either, not a single believable conversation or character.
Warning: AI Slop This game is partially or completely made with talentless, soulless AI generated content.
"Countdown" is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. This garbage e-book is AI slop, it's unclear where the slop ends or if the "author" actually did any work here, but the prompting and "vibe coding" leads in exactly the same direction as all the other garbage e-books on Steam: This is a high school anime club dropout fan-fiction about the author's imaginary girlfriend and of course he puts himself in the book and has romance and drama with his imaginary anime girlfriend, and you get to read all that cringe and try not to t…

The "art" and character design is uninspired (in case of the children nightmare-inducing in an uncanny valley sort of way), the story is drawn out in a way that made me lose any interest in the things happening on screen and killed all the feelings a topic like this should evoke. The bare-bone controls that are there handle abysmally. The English translation read okay to me (a non-native speaker) with some mistakes/weird word choices. This could have been a short, emotionally hard-hitting visual novel but it definitely needed more time in the oven, so to speak. And at least someone competent enough in game/media design to raise the question if the character assets should switch that often if the viewpoint of those assets are slightly different in too many of them and be able to adjust the filter on the background photos to be a bit more uniform.

"You are dead too. What a coincidence." :D It is a lot of text. It is at least an hour long.
