About Covid Tale: Ignorance

Re-live the COVID19 events from a different perspective.
Namely in third-person perspective and behind your computer. Sit back and find out how it all may or may not happened.

You'll be playing as a different characters in a story-driven adventure which sums up events that happened so far. Play familiar mini-games while unraveling how it could have happened according to a scientists, internet, Hollywood etc. It has sketch-like feeling but it maintains a story arc from start to finish. At the end, we will reveal HOW IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED.

Key Features

  • Non-combat story-driven experience
  • Tolerable pixel art graphics
  • Familiar, but sometimes clunky minigames
  • It's a classic RPG Maker game without the RPG element
  • Inappropriate politically incorrect humor
  • Around 30+ minutes of playtime. Depending on your skill

I do realize that COVID19 is a serious matter. Many people are suffering because of it. Don't underestimate it.
Follow the instructions of WHO to protect yourself and others.

RPG Maker strikes again! Covid Tale: Ignorance is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction. This garbage RPG Maker asset flip tries to get famous by exploiting satire around a disease that killed millions worldwide. Yep, that's the kind of thing amateur developers like to stroke their ego with, while they plug around with children's toy game construction kits and tell their imaginary girlfriend that they're a game developer. The disrespect for the lives of so many lost is appalling. And this guy wants to get famous for it. As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pa…

It's very silly and a little irreverent, but it's a fun time for 20 minutes. And it's free, so that's nice. Here's the breakdown: Story/Writing- It's a goofy meme-laden narrative of 'how COVID-19 may or may not have happened' that makes fun of a lot of the conspiracy theories surrounding it. It's reasonably funny, though the grammar is bad at times. I also appreciate that they took the time to include some actual safety info. Very responsible of them. The goofy narrative is the main entertaining thing about the game. I enjoyed some of the humor, but some of it was a little dumb. Gameplay- The gameplay is basically dialogue and cutscenes interspersed with a few small minigames. The minigames are simple, easy, and at times a little clunky, but it's clear there was actually some good effort put into them, and they are enjoyable. The game takes around twenty minutes to complete. Graphics- For the most part, it's just standard RPG Maker graphics. Nothing special. Music- The game primarily uses royalty-free music, and while for the most part it is decent, it has an issue that sometimes happens where a track starts playing before the last track finishes, resulting in something th…

Kinda short game, all minigames are pretty easy, the platformer is a bit more infuriating because there is a type of delay in the jumping. Some of the events in my view a bit misrepresented or skewed. Although the game makes fun of ALL of the covid origin narratives.

Short little game that's just the right kind of silly. It's a bit buggy but it's fun enough and short enough that I just didn't care.
