A great minimalist platformer that nobody knows about.2 found this helpful
CrunchTime is a charming indie platformer that takes a surprisingly relatable concept and turns it into an entertaining adventure. Developed by Umiringo Studio and published by Navila Software Japan, the game places players in the role of an exhausted programmer who has become trapped inside a digital world represented by a green cursor. The objective is simple yet fitting for the theme: track down and eliminate four hidden bugs scattered throughout the game's virtual environment so that work can finally be completed. While the premise is lighthearted and humorous, it effectively captures the frustrations and determination associated with software development deadlines, giving the experience a unique personality from the very beginning. These are poorly translated from Japanese(?) but still understandable, and a highlight of the experience. CrunchTime's challenge is moderate, with a smooth difficulty curve ranging from very easy early levels to a few devious platforming challenges in the final level, but overall it's pretty casual and nothing that will hold back veterans of the 8- and 16-bit eras. Thanks to a double jump and ground/air dash unlocked early on, movement feels good, and as CrunchTime does track things like level completion time and damage tak…
