A hidden gem amongst roguelike deck builder games. The meta/corporate humor thing it had going on wasn't really my cup of tea, however it wasn't bad. What I thought really shined through was the gameplay and the mechanics. The different characters allowed this game to make each playthrough feel unique and allows for near endless amount of playthrough. I bought this on sale, but after playing this game for awhile I think its definitely worth the full price. Looking forward to whatever the developer comes out with next!

Earthbound as a battle roguelike wasn't something I ever thought would exist, but here it is and it's great. The story/setting do a good job at being fun, energetic, and random without it feeling like an "inside baseball" affair about the industry or cringy. While this is probably a hyperbolic and ridiculous parody of the devs' own experiences, it's mostly focused on jokes and references most gamers would understand. All done in very Mother games fashion. My only small issues are with the gameplay itself. It does a great job at having roguelike mechanics and upgrading, with deckbuilding elements to create your load out essentially. The issue is that it also mimicks Earthbound's combat too well. I think they needed to make it more dynamic, esp as opposed to the Mother games that the combat is just one part of the experience, as this is the main experience for this game. It isn't an inherently super fun gameplay loop. Like I wouldn't do an endless mode after I beat it. I still like it a lot but I would have enjoyed it more having done more with the battles. What it does well and the amount of zaniness and passion make up for its shortcomings.

Played with all 5 character and went until Hell 4. Cool game do feel like the build variety is not very big. The humor of the game is cool :)
