Wheehaw, I really really enjoyed this one! Come take my time, I dare ya! Very much a love letter to Quake, and holy crap does it feel good. Maybe a little light on options, but hopefully we get some more content in future updates! CRUX is a fantastic addition to the FPS rogue-like genre, offering a thrilling and fast-paced experience. The game's dynamic gameplay, responsive controls, and seamless blend of rogue-like elements make each playthrough exciting and unpredictable. It's a must-play for fans of the genre, delivering an adrenaline-fueled gaming experience that stands out in the world of FPS rogue-likes.

This is definitely one of the more interesting Vampire Survivors like games I've played recently. If it wasn't obvious, this share a huge similarity with Quake series. Think Quake III Arena but with the enemies of modern Doom. I think this game has the potential to become something very interesting later down the line, but it doesn't mean you shouldn't play it now. As others have mentioned, it has hours of content out of the box and a diverse set of perks you can use throughout your runs. As well as a wide variety of enemies and maps to choose from, I'm sure there's more to come in the future. I will come back to this review possibly at a later stage when I've played it more and have a better feel for what the game has to offer. But until then, if you haven't done so already, definitely give the game a go, as I think you'll find this game very enjoyable. Especially if you like Quake/Doom and Vampire Survivors type games.

Before I begin I'd like to state that what I'm about to say relates to the state of the game as of 17.04.2024. The game may not be in early access, but there's still a lot of work to do. Let's start with the good stuff. Mechanically the game is solid, I think it's fair to even say it is above average. Weapons are solid, Perks while simple are impactful and Movement is responsive. There are foundations for an awesome game and while this is enough for me to recommend it now, there are issues with it that I would like to point out. The major problem I encountered is something that can be described as Varied Mouse Sensitivity. What does that mean? From my observations, it looks like the mouse sensitivity is dependent on framerate and not in the way one would expect. The lower the framerate, the higher the senstivity becomes, leading to weird situation where in the middle of a fight you suddenly look at the floor or the sky. Since this is an FPS it's pretty much gamebreaking, but it might be the case of my system and the game not getting along. Dev, if You want to know more, hit me up. This game brings back nostalgic memories of classic games, infused with new elements that add to its charm. I admire how a single developer has crafted such a captivating experience. I eagerly await the arrival of new content.
