CyberArena (2025)

CyberArena is a pretty fun little arena shooter that I liked mainly because it keeps the action moving almost constantly. I control a combat mech in a harsh cyberpunk desert and have to survive waves of hostile machines while trying to build a setup that can handle whatever the game throws at me. I found the basic idea familiar, but the mech theme gives the usual survival roguelike formula a nice bit of personality. The combat is fast and straightforward, with enemies closing in from all directions while I move around the arena and keep firing. One of my favorite mechanics is the ability to slow time, because it gives me a short window to make better decisions when things get crowded. I liked having that extra control without completely removing the pressure. The game still expects me to move quickly and pay attention to what is happening around me. The upgrade system is where the roguelike side becomes more interesting. After each wave, I get a selection of random upgrades that can improve my combat abilities or change how my mech performs.
