Sadly, this game is leaps and bounds above its predecessor and it is right on the verge of me recommending it. There's enough here that is so close to good that I want to find an excuse to do so. But I can't in good conscience do so. Operation Osaka does away with the story based mecha Roguelike and instead focused on a future time and a pilot deep in debt. Their only way out is to win enough in the local arena battles to rank up and make the payments before the 30 day period is up. To earn mechs parts and experience, you can explore the tunnels beneath the city in a simple Roguelike dungeon crawl. There's an extremely small number of rooms and little variance in these dungeons, but its interesting enough that I generally enjoy myself. Mech building is the high point as you swap out multiple classes of mech parts and weapons (with random bonus traits) to customize your build. This is particularly satisfying and it feels good to try out different weapon classes. I've had immense fun going into the arena and duking it out with people. But no matter the potential here, the entire system does fall apart quickly due to poor balance and questionable design choices. Mechs have an "Ev…6 found this helpful

unbelievably bad, do not waste money on this.2 found this helpful
Mech-type top-down shooter that lost somewhere in translation, and it just bloated with cheap exposition.1 found this helpful
An OK game. A simple ARPG that takes some of the problems of the first game and revamps or tries to fix some. The combat feels snappier, the game still needs to be locked at max 60fps to run properly, but unlike the previous tile, doing so doesnt introduce slowdowns when there are lots of stuff spawned or with multihit weapons, wich is a huge plus and makes the game feel fluid and playable. Tough repeating the same early maps in different missions with just some text lore/objective exposure has been changed to your personal android helper that does all the talking, wich for some can feel like making the game more linear, but imo its the same with a different skin. The maps look better but they repeat alot all the same aswell. Tough enemy variety is a bit increased, it feels like the same as if your mecha parts/weapons have the bigger number statwise you will basically stomp your enemies, otherwise you will be stomped, theres very little your skill alone can do, numbers still play the biggest part. The premise of this game sounds cooler than the previous game wich was a generic humanity vs AI war with mechs, but it feels like the early game debt loop (you will know what I am ta…1 found this helpful
