About Dangerous Games: Illusionist Collector's Edition

From Blam!, creators of Punished Talents: Seven Muses and the European Mystery series.

The first annual Championship of Illusionists ended in tragedy. Twenty years later, the event is back, and you've been asked to write a story about it. It promises to be entertaining news... but things go straight to the front page when a mysterious red-masked man appears out of thin air to abduct the first contestant! Stranger still, the hotel owner claims the man died during the previous competition! Who is the mysterious Red Mask, and what does he want? You'll have to unravel a series of strange and mysterious illusions to find out. Just be careful – nothing is as it seems in this exciting Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure game!

This is a special Collector's Edition release full of exclusive extras you won't find in the standard version. The Collector's Edition includes:

Challenge a familiar enemy in the bonus game!
Collect tricks of the trade
Earn achievements
Enjoy concept art, music, mini-games, and more!

"Dangerous Games: Illusionist" is a decent Hidden Object Game with high-quality static visuals, poor-quality animations, and an absolutely incomprehensible plot. There were several times where the animations were so crudely done as to be downright laugh-inducing. The scene with the unmasking of the villain made him look like Steve Carrell trapped in a funhouse mirror. In fact, "Dangerous Games: Steve Carrell Trapped in a Funhouse Mirror" would make much more sense then the slapdash script of this game. They kept introducing one unconnected backstory element after the other and left a half a dozen of them completely undeveloped and not integrated into the narrative. The game seems too dated to have been written by an AI randomly stringing concepts together, but the effect is the same. Still, I will recommend this game at half price or lower ($5 American) for the solid hidden object puzzles. The rest is not worth another $5.

This was a good game with excellent artwork and a good story. At over 5 hours of play, the game is decent value but the butchered editing in most current HOGs always leaves me wondering how much of the game has been cut. Despite the editing, I would recommend this title.
