About Death Becomes You: Yuri Onsen Vacation
"Magic exists all around; your whole body and mind can be a conduit."
Alice and Sophie have been in a long distance relationship since they graduated from the Ira Royal Academy for talented magic users. Sophie has stayed on campus as a researcher, while Alice ventured to the world outside of academia.
Finally, Sophie gets some time off, and the couple reunites for an onsen vacation!
However, things are not how they seem at the hot spring hotel... several mysterious events appear to target the Alice and Sophie. Is the hotel haunted, or is there a powerful magical enemy afoot?
*Death Becomes You: Yuri Onsen Vacation* occurs after the events of *Death Becomes You*. It is not required to have read *Death Becomes You* or *A Summer with the Shiba Inu* by our developer friends, but there are some references to the two games that readers may appreciate.

With how short it is, it has absolutely insane amount of boring blab. Somehow new season of Dexter is more fun to watch, at least watching it you can be mad about something, and this one just puts to sleep. Some (it's two of them in fact, since novel is really-really short) of the pictures differ from what you see on the Store Page for the game and they look like lower quality (feels unfinished).4 found this helpful
That's good, very good game. But. At the same it is very strange... More than anything it feels like single OVA episode for a very long anime... Or it is just promotion (advertisement) for some different visual novel?1 found this helpful
A very short game, about 2 ladies who encounter a ghost. Story was good. The animation is great.1 found this helpful
This game functions just fine on the steam deck, but there is hardly anything to it. It does not stand alone as its own story and can be completed in under 20 minutes depending on how fast you read - feels like a low quality fanfiction drabble. From reading the dev notes inside I find out that it's a side story to the main game, Death Becomes You. I have not played that, but the writing in this story is awkward and not much happens. The story seems to have some potential but even considering it is side content for a larger game it feels unfinished/poorly executed. The
dog
character doesn't even get a sprite. This should have been a DLC/extra for the main game, not a standalone entry.
This VN is quite lacking in the Girls Love department, so keep that in mind before playing. The story takes place during the vacation of two girls; they are characters from the main game, "Death Becomes You", apparently. They get disturbed by a magical talking dog, which is from another VN: "A Summer with the Shiba Inu" That's about it; the next day the dog goes away and their vacation comes to an end. While the sprites are excellent, completely eye-catching, the CGs leave much to be desired. There are two CGs, and they are not made by the same artist. I'm not bashing the CGs per se; they're pretty artwork on their own. It's about the inconsistent style compared to the sprites; it's immersion-breaking. The backgrounds are nice, and the UI/Menus are great! So, while the narrative is well put together, for me it's hardly a yuri VN. I would say that it's more dedicated to the players of the main game. Don't bother with this VN if you want Girls Love stuff. PD: Devs, consider adding Spanish translations so your games can reach an ever larger audience. Thank you.
This is one of those instances in which I wish Steam had a neutral/mixed review option. The game is sweet and short, which definitely scratches the itch you would have for something like this, but bite sized. However, the story felt incredibly random and kind of unpolished. The game itself feels pretty unfinished with the 2 CGs highly differing in art style from the rest of the game and Syd not even having an actual sprite. But to be fair, I also haven't played the original Death Becomes You game, so I'm most likely losing a lot of context on the story side. On a bright note, this game did make me add Death Becomes You on my wishlist to play it in the near future, due to the concept of the magic and world seeming pretty interesting, so that's a win. All in all, if you want a quick, sweet experience, I do recommend the game, but at the same time don't keep your hopes up for something amazing.
