✦ AI summary

Death Nomad shows promise with its distinctive art style, solid combat mechanics, and decent crafting systems that set it apart in the zombie survival genre. However, players consistently criticize the severe lack of content and progression, with limited maps that repeat quickly, no meaningful quests or story, and a gameplay loop that exhausts itself in 15-30 minutes before becoming repetitive. While supporters acknowledge its early access status and potential, detractors feel the game is too bare-bones even for an alpha build, lacking sufficient depth to justify extended play.

It is just empty. No quests, no story, no nothing. Or maybe it is just me. I finish the tutorial, get to the city, and nothing. A bunch of zombies that drop a lot of ammo and weapons, my guide died from a zombie without doing anything to stop it. A small 200x200 meter map that I could leave, but why? Right now, it is an unpolished project zomboid clone without content

I don't have a lot of time in game, but that's not really by choice, there just isn't anything to do. The gameplay loop currently is about 15-25 minutes long and then there is nothing new. It's still early access so it gets leeway, but not enough leeway to excuse the fact this couldn't even be classified as an Alpha build. Currently, I don't see the point of the building mechanics as you can't stay in one area longer than 10-ish minutes before it becomes gaseous and you have to leave or die. The maps/biomes/whatever you want to call it, repeat....there is nothing new after 30 minutes of playing, which would be okay if this was an Alpha. I hope a lot of big changes are coming, because I like the concept of this game, however I'm giving this a negative review for the developers shamelessly releasing this into Early Access and taking peoples money when there is so little meat on the bones. Don't buy this game until you see A LOT of added content in the Community area.

Death Nomad is a pleasant surprise in the already super saturated zombie niche where everything out there feels like everything else and one that could stand out as a darling if the developer keeps at it. Top down lo res graphics (well done as well) a la project zomboid and humanitz with an already decent crafting system and fun shoot em up gameplay. It still has some issues such as hit boxes being a bit too liberal but it is in early access (the "earliest" access) but I found it surprisingly fun even in it's current state.

I'm quite surprised this hasn't earned more reviews - since it was released in Aug 2024. It's has a very unique style, not one I've see before. Yes, it's in early access and the devs are still working on the details but the game play is quite good. Easily worth getting the demo (free) though I had no hesitation in paying the $9 entry fee. The art style is shockingly good. Character models are cell shaded and intriguing. The enemies are exceptionally varied (in appearance). The combat is very intrinsic and rewarding. You can remap keybinds - but I'd like the ability to change mouse sensitivity on rotating the camera (too fast). Loot is everywhere (perhaps too much, too soon). Have I mentioned the charming and different art style?! The survival mechanics combined with crafting are different and enjoyable. I paid for the game and will continue to check back. Lots to like here. Worked for me, might for for you.
