In the 1980s, Defender of the Crown helped define a new kind of cinematic strategy game. Now it returns, rebuilt for modern platforms and remastered with an entirely new way to play.
Conquer territories, raise armies, storm castles, and shift the balance of power. It's the Defender of the Crown you remember - just sharper, cleaner, and built for today. Retro Mode. The original Amiga classic, preserved with near-perfect authenticity and quality-of-life enhancements. Classic Mode. Amiga classic reimagined for today. A completely new visual identity, refined mechanics, and smoother systems. Kingdom Mode. An entirely new challenge. Procedurally generated maps, special dice mechanics, unlockable abilities, and multiple difficulty levels to keep every run unpredictable. Until these Devs get Kingdom mode "Raid" timebox correct and not bugout as an alleged misclick... This will stay a thumbs down without a recommendation. It's an easy fix, and making something bugged is not a difficulty setting, its pathetic development. The rest of Kingdome Mode is surprisingly better than I expected, addictive and astronomically better than the other game-modes. Classic Mode is actually repetitive with the extra choices not really improving the game play much, and retro mode was better in the original NES version in the mid 1980's. Can you imagine that? I can, it's just another dime a dozen incomplete on release, games. ------------------------------ Update since it came out ------------------------------------------ The timebox is so enragingly broken, I literally get a perfect score with the count and press time, and 4 out of 4 hearts are lost due to the bug even though I can clearly see and count exactly on the que. You can record a video of yourself playing it, put it on slow motion and see they massively failed Kingdom mode raids. you have to tediously replay it and hope you don't get glitched because the devs are literally incapable of fixing this. …7 found this helpful

Every year or so I will revisit defender of the crown it is a classic that I loved as a kid. Now I have a version that is easy to get to and has all the nostalgia factor i need. Thanks for making this game I am loving the trip down memory lane. This game does exactly what it promised it would do. Cheers2 found this helpful
It's a decent distraction on the cheap side. I had some fun with the Kingdom mode, allthough it doesnt feel good enough to keep me hooked to see what more it has to offer. The older version sadly lack some improvements that should have been there ( castle defenses / mace fighting after jousting ? ) But overall, for the price and what it offers ? It's okay and it did make me smile seeing a 2026 release of it.1 found this helpful
