Bright is a young woman from a small, peaceful town. Dark times have come for her family, but luckily, she has the favor of the famous healer-witch Orchid. Benevolent, calm and beloved by all, Orchid hides dark secrets that Bright begins to uncover.Bright is drawn into a world of darkness and treachery. It seems she can never be alone again - for a powerful demonic presence has taken an interest in her activities, and his voice enters her mind at the most inappropriate times. There are also others who play a significant role in Bright's new life... Ari, a young apprentice witch seduced by bad influences. She tries to be friendly, even though she knows Bright is meant to be her enemy... or is she? And Sir Brash, a notorious evil knight who develops a soft spot for Bright, but has a rather special way of showing affection."Where are the games with dark storytelling and evil men, and why is it taboo for women to fantasize about them? Demonheart wisely accommodates this void with a cast of evil love interests and a thought-provoking dark narrative."- ReMeDy
"There's a certain level of role play involved in playing visual novels - I want to make their personality how I imagine, and choose responses I want, instead of being forced to make what the game developer wanted. Demonheart is masterful at this."- pinky
"A visual novel that you will never forget and that will make you return to it again and again to explore all the choices, to see all the scenes and to love, hate and desire."

By no means a terrible game but I wouldn’t recommend it. Things I liked… - The story started out well and initially I was keen to keep playing to see how things developed. - The writing was ok and I didn’t really spot any typos or bits that didn’t make sense like in some other games of this type. - A couple of scenes were quite tense and scary. - Some of the artwork was quite nice. - Lots of dialogue options. - There was some voice acting and some of it was ok. Things I didn’t like... - Almost all of the characters you interact with are extremely mean and unpleasant. Didn’t really want to get romantically involved with any of them. - The plot got super convoluted and in the end I didn’t care and lost interest. - The voice acting is mostly pretty poor. - Anagram solving puzzles got quite tedious and didn’t really add anything. - I replayed a few parts to see if selecting dialogue options had an impact and very few of them did. Overall… - Not my cup of tea. Fans of dark romance who like the idea of getting romantically involved with unpleasant people might enjoy this a little bit more but, overall, there is a lot of room for improvement.

Possibly the best visual novel I've ever played. The story gets you hooked. There are so many plot twists and a lot of moral ambiguity. That said, it might be too much for some people because its a very dark game and has a lot of triggering, disturbing things that happen.

Bad game design for a mostly linear romance VN. Game essentially forces you to replay last chapter of the game, if you made "wrong" choices earlier in the chapter. Coupled with janky game engine and non existence of proper walktroughs, it makes finishing a simple VN a chore. Thumb down.

Remember playing this game 6 years ago and it was pretty solid novel with quite alright visuals. I replayed it today once more with "Good" alignment to get Alternate Universe achievement. Story is quite extensive as even when I was skipping as much dialogue as I could, today's run took me 3,5 hours.

Demonheart is a dark fantasy visual novel created by Rolling Crown that places storytelling and character interaction at the center of its experience. Released on Steam in 2017, the game belongs to the interactive fiction and otome-inspired visual novel genre, though it distinguishes itself through a much darker tone than many romance-focused titles. Instead of offering traditional gameplay systems like combat or exploration, Demonheart relies on a choice-driven narrative where the player shapes the personality, morality, and relationships of its protagonist. The result is an experience that feels less like a conventional game and more like a complex fantasy novel in which the player guides the emotional and ethical path of the main character. The story revolves around a young woman named Bright, who begins the game living an ordinary life in a small town. Her situation quickly changes after she becomes associated with Orchid, a respected healer-witch known for her calm demeanor and powerful abilities. At first glance, Orchid appears to be a generous and protective mentor who offers Bright support during a difficult time. However, as the story unfolds, it becomes increasingly clea…

I regret buying this and I regret playing this. I don't know if the later additions in this series are good or not, but this one is not worth it, especially when there's so much visual novels out there. The plot and worldbuilding was extremely basic so there was nothing exciting there. The characters also weren't really likable so it doesn't work as a romance story either. This game/novel is by no means a piece of trash, but it's hard to justify spending time and money on this when other far better VNs exist.
