While idle games aren't exactly my genre, Desktop managed to bridge that happy medium between an idle game and an interactive game by giving you options, without overwhelming you with graphics or UI or stats. The play loop is actually quite simple: you have a space station, and you need to explore the different asteroids for resources... by smashing bits into it and finding the useful bits. You can upgrade the station itself (population, and thus the income multiplier), upgrade the "gun" (increase impact radius, easier to find the useful bits), increase "ammo" (so you can take more shots per "expedition"), and so on. It's the asteroid smashing missions that are optional, but the more you do, the more income you make. But again, it's optional, as your station will continue to make money, albeit at a lesser rate, if you just leave it alone. The eventual goal is to blast all types of asteroid (as you go further and further out, costing more and more per expedition), manage to find a few surprises, and eventually leave the solar system, and... restart the game, albeit, with some advances carried over from your first game... and you start over... in an alien system... Its like sea monkeys. It lets you kill time when you are doing other tasks on you desktop. I love its simplicity.
it clicks the button or else it gets the twitch again.
Cute idle game where you see your ships floating. havent played much to know if the planet probing can be automated or not, but if it did it'll be amazing
Cute little clicker. Enjoying it.
Fun thing to have on in the background. One thing I've noticed, if you relaunch probes but don't have enough money nothing happens. Some signal letting you know the probe didn't launch because of lack of funds would not go amiss.
