Diluvian Ultra: Awakening

This is essentially a demo for "Diluvian Ultra": a short prequel level that introduces the basic gameplay, four weapons, and several enemy types. Movement and gunplay are decent, though nothing particularly impressive. The visual style is unusual and interesting, but visibility is a real issue: parts of the environment, items, and enemies often blend together, making them difficult to distinguish. There is nothing outstanding here, but "Awakening" does what it is supposed to do - it made me interested in the full game, mostly thanks to its unusual alien setting.

Good game as a demo for Diluvian Ultra; art, weapons, combat, and exploration await you in this retro FPS. Art feels right out of a heavy metal album; the halls, weapons, and pickups really show how far removed and alien the setting is. Doors open by breaking crystals and finding keys; your checkpoints are blood fetuses, and your main weapon is a bug that shoots plasma. The game's setting is, in all senses of the word, alien. The game plays like a DOOM clone but with a few twists; each weapon has a certain job to do. Some are good at breaking enemies' shields, some are good for kill shots, and some are a mix of both at certain ranges. The combat is all about switching between them to take down whatever the game throws at you, a pretty simple rock-paper-scissors system. But that's the combat; most of your time will be spent trying to figure out where the hell to go on this ship and exploring for keys and secrets, which is pretty standard for a retro FPS, and given how the tombship is integrated, it can be a pain in the ass with platforming, but it's all decent. Worth a play as a demo

Very cool style to this one. The platforming is...deeply frustrating. Everything else is typical old school goodness. Got completely lost in this small level but that's how they were back in the day.

For some reason I found everything about this game to be frustrating.

Although I didn't really understand the lore of this game it's overall a simple game and I ended up overthinking initially to progress through it like often times the answer was right Infront of me in terms of gameplay progression, but still it's a simple short game that kind of reminded me of Selaco's gameplay and they might even be from the same game engine, but I might be wrong as I don't make games myself. Still game's worth it even if it's short it has weapon variety!

An interesting demo. Very old-school shooter level design wherein YOU WILL get lost. The gunplay is a lot of fun with interesting little twists to weapons like your starting pistol being a bug that overheats, your rifle being used primarily to remove armor, and melee being your strongest attack. Really like the art style as well. Main issues include a bugged (pun intended) guidance feature that supposedly works in the main game and would have been very nice to have here and a puzzle where you have to shoot symbols but since those symbols are in other places around the map and appear to do nothing, it is not immediately clear what you have to do. Overall, I enjoyed most of my 40 minutes spent though I looked up that password puzzle after a while.
