surprisingly involved gameplay, very fun to find strategies that aren't just number go up, as well5 found this helpful
Phew. Okay. Let me start with the things I liked most and work my way down. Concept: You are modifying a blaster that iterates through 6 modules from left to right to determine the kind of projectile it will fire when it's done. Modular weapons are always cool; Noita's wand system is easily one of its highlights. What's more, having a system where the modules have to be resolved in order instead of just contributing to a numeric cooldown total is Good Design which allows for fun considerations with regards to how long the blaster spends looping back on its cards to power up between firing each shot. Music: Upbeat, catchy bops. I especially liked the ones that play at the start of the bunny, icy, and ninja planets. Presentation: Here's where I start to get conflicted. The sprite work is solid, and some of the stage backdrops are actually fantastic. But the way these assets are rendered and melded together is headache-inducing. I am someone who really likes a good retro aesthetic, so it hurts me in my soul when you don't work within a consistent virtual resolution and instead just bloat every lovingly-made sprite up to varying pixel sizes. It's also painful to see gra…4 found this helpful
It is an extremely interesting game in the indie scene. You can play it either to relax and insert cards that cause chaos, or by min-maxing the damage and firing times of the blaster. It is an excellent combination for those who love to do calculations and seek the best strategy, as well as for those who prefer a game that combines chaotic visuals and explosions with the unlocking of cards, characters, planets and collectables. Give it a try, the runs are short and there are lots of challenges to try.3 found this helpful
What if you got to pick a new Balatro joker every 5 seconds to make short programming loops to help you win an auto-battling Toejam and Earl 2: Panic on Funkotron? Interestingly, not just focused on maximum damage dealing, instead including lots of scaleable elemental effects. Jazzy little soundtrack too. Compulsively playable -- try the generous demo and you'll get a good sense of it!3 found this helpful
Good dose of happiness - play this game 10 min a day, keeps the doctor away~ I played the demo first, got it 100% and happily bought the game. The game is 10 times (or more) content, levels, characters, planets and cards than the demo. My favorite part of the game is the 1 min countdown at the end of a run. It's like a celebration, makes you dancing with the happy beats for that last minute!2 found this helpful
Its a fun concept with lots to unlock and a lot of variety, in theory. In practice a lot of the different cards don't really feel that different so most runs feel pretty much exactly the same. Either you get bad cards and you lose, or you get good cards and you win. Still worth it, and definitely close to being really good. For the devs - Why are my cards sometimes destroyed? This isn't explained very well and doesn't feel very good Why does the damage numbers only go to 99999 before being replaced with "REALLY?????"? It's pretty trivial to get numbers that high so it doesn't feel like an achievement and is actually counterproductive because now I have no idea whether a new card is better, only if its significantly worse Why can I not see my attack speed? If my damage is 100 and I get a speed card then either that should be reflected in the damage, or I should have a second value for attacks per second Why do elemental cards not display how much extra damage they're providing? I want to see at a glance which cards are pulling their weight Where you show the effect breakdown on the left hand side, could that give actual values instead of just 1, 2, 3, ... I want to know how much b…2 found this helpful
