About Disminal

Disminal is a First Person Exploration/Walking Simulator experience set in the backrooms where you will be able to wonder through some of it's unsettling and vacant places, is there an exit to be found? or will you be staying here forever, lost between two worlds.
This game will focus merely on immersion and appreciation of aesthetics.
  • Most zones/sections in the game are greatly influenced by YouTube videos and images depicting liminal spaces
  • Featuring a 'MPEG' mode which graphically mimics the artifacts seen in actual low quality videos so as to enhance the immersion.

its just like the Stanley Parable, but somebody killed the narrator, stole 99% of the audio, broke your kneecaps so slow move speed, turned the lights off in 20% of the rooms, and forgot to put any form of fun into it. 1/10 best described as Dismal i played the game at 6x the speed and still got bored, gotta go fast

Looks just like where I work, including the existential horror.

A pretty sweet, purely liminal lo-fi Backrooms experience that feels like a "greatest hits" collection of iconic liminal spaces. The minimalist presentation works surprisingly well, creating a consistently eerie atmosphere without relying on cheap scares or excessive visual clutter. What I enjoyed most is that, unlike many games in the genre, the various environments are seamlessly connected. Rather than breaking immersion with loading screens, elevators, or level transitions, each area naturally flows into the next, making the entire experience feel like one vast, interconnected dreamscape. It's a small design choice, but one that goes a long way toward preserving the sense of exploration and mystery that liminal spaces thrive on.

Really well done, a huge map that reveals itself at a lovely pace.
