We are gathered here today, to mourn the short life and beautiful potential of DNF Duel. You came out of nowhere. Spun off the loins of a Niche within a Niche, to yet another, but fitting Niche. DNF Duel had fun, wild characters, great visuals, and great music. (Not to mention the niche but always appreciated ability to change the spoken language, specifically by character.) You came out with such fire, such energy. Most people had no Idea what you were a spin off of, but loved you all the same. You were attached to the wretched NEXON, but you were loved all the same. You dared to ask questions such as: "What if a fighting game had a Giant Wheel of Death that takes up half the screen?", "What if you could summon a Giant Flaming Frog?" "What if you could punch someone with Wind from the other side of the stage, then suck him back in to do it again?" "What if we gave a character 500 guns?" You were insane, born too late, and yet too early at the same time. But worse than that, those who birthed you forsook you, you pure, precious, pitiful thing. I honestly wish this game had been successful, given how good the reinterpretations of the DFO character designs are, but unfortunately, it's genuinely a bad fighting game. It lacks depth, a burst mechanic (since a tod can start even if some characters are far away), no single-player content, generic soundtrack, a complete unpleasant balance between characters, no comeback mechanics, and an overdose of plus-frames that makes the combos the game itself teaches you per character worthless. I absolutely don’t recommend this game, even if it's on sale. Buy FighterZ and UMVC3 on sale, and you'll get two better games that take up the same storage space of this one.
EXTREMELY fun fightslop game. Everybody is OP. Probably not worth buying if you want to play online, unless it's on a huge sale because it's well past its peak. It really is hilariously fun though.
