id Studio feels like torture just to create a simple brush. In the age of TrenchBroom and hammer, this tool feels like it was released in 1999. But I thought, “Ok, how bad can it be?” I tried to create a simple room and test it out. I eventually figured out how to make one using static brushes. Then I wanted to select a texture, and instead of having a proper dedicated texture/material system, I had to dig through every file and folder the game has. I fought through all of that, placed a player start and one light. Compiled and... The editor crashed... Yeah... No. I’m not torturing myself with this any longer. Who designed this tool lmao... You guys made 3 games with this? it basically works like Gtkradiant but with alot of feutures on top of it you need a nuclear factory manual to make something simple. The thing is that Gtkradiant is very outdated by todays standards and this wont attract any modders or devs the way it is setup, the UX is terrible. And the worst thing is that this thing released without tutorials or any help and i was only able to work with it because I used Gtkradiant in the past. No wonder we dont have maps yet.. i attempted to run it with 16GB of ram and i got surprised that it even managed to open and slightly work, i would have liked a way to run the software without having to run the game at the same time, trough some tipe of launch option if that could be possible, as it would allow lower spec computers to also use it
