About Dread of Laughter
You play as Catheryn Barnett. You are driving the rural areas of Mississippi to meet a business associate when your car breaks down. You look at the map and decide to try and walk across the forest to the nearest town for help. But soon you realize you are being hunted by someone or something...
Dread of Laughter is a first person survival horror game where the player has to survive and escape to safety after finding out the brutal truth about the isolated farm in the woods. Your objective is to survive and escape to safety, but you are not alone. Something is stalking your every move and some objectives will either help you or turn against you. Which objective is worth doing to save yourself? Only you can decide.

Surely after major update the game is much better than it used to be, but this by no doubts is still alpha version. Great potential with poor perfomance. Hope it gets better soon, but for now it's a big no-no.4 found this helpful
Bought this in the sale thought I would give it a shot. Avoid it. Even on sale, avoid it. i got stuck on a door and couldn't move, had to close a door and re-open, my game looks totally different to others on youtube. I was placed in front of a house or shed, then found a key and the house in front of it , the key didnt work, maybe it wasnt the right key I dont know. I found another house with an upstairs and found another key which said it was for the downstairs door, went downstairs, none of the doors worked... so whats the point in the 2 keys I found? Is there more than 1 enemy? The lady was running after me behind me, as I saw her in the darkness, I continued running forward, and somehow she got me from the front? how? Is there more than 1 enemy? Nah 2/10 terrible game couldnt be stuffed starting again for the 3rd time1 found this helpful
I don't usually give negative reviews but this one needs to receive one. The "huge update" talks about a couple of things not present in the game, and i know that it changed a lot since the first release, but being fair, it looked more complete back then. For a game that relies too much in the brightness, at least make it adjustable or make things more visible. The removal of the map worsened that issue. I've tried to like this one and i've had fun running away of the killers, but it wasn't enough...1 found this helpful
Its still not 100% complete their are still issues with it I think the clue is in the title to this game its DREADful.
Before buying this game I had already seen all the negative reviews, but I still went ahead and bought it because it looked promising nonetheless. And on top of that, I had seen that Dread of Laughter had been remade and this gave me a slight glimmer of hope and eventually the deciding factor to make me buy it. This game is... not good. And I don't like to say that. I want it to be good, I really do. I wish I was writing a good review. Because it (still) looks promising. I just can't recommend it right now though. If the developer(s) really put a lot of time in to make it something great, I'd play it again. But right now it looks as if the developer(s) didn't really care what the 'final' game looked like. And I'm sure they put a lot of time in making this, remaking it and I appreciate that. But it's - in my opinion - not good. Simple as that. The game randomly drops you in the woods after pressing the 'new game' option where the objective is almost non-existent? Luckily there is a source of light that you would naturally walk towards if you had no idea what to do. It's a little cabin with almost nothing in it. Then later on there is another cabin with [spoiler]a slight jumpscare…
I just can't recommend this one. There's a lot of potential here. I like the setting and the pretty nice amount of gore. The open approach that let's you figure out what to do on your own was somewhat rewarding when I wasn't running into bugs that forced me to close the game to fix. Reading some of the notes resulted in my game locking up multiple times until I just stopped reading notes. There's some noticeable graphical issues like bright, flickering ground textures outside the main house. With some more polish this could be worthwhile. As it is, even with the recent update, it's difficult to play. Interesting environmental puzzles make traversing the main house pretty fun but reloading over and over from repeated deaths combined with glitches wore me down until I stopped playing. I applaud the developers for continuing to update the game. Maybe with a few more updates, this could be worth revisiting~
