Dreamcatcher 2003

Such an interesting blend of gameplay, and incredibly funny. A spectacle of a game, 10/10

Not sure if this is a filler experience or not even if inspired by Yume Nikki or generally RPGMaker games, the game itself kinda lacks the pizzazz of the original source is that's what the abstract notion is headed for. There's also seem to be no inventory system, meaning you cannot walk faster or have costumes / items to progress other than linear ones. Making the gameplay a bit dull on where to go or if you just obtained something to proceed with which you'd hope for exploration game would be simple but it's making it more complicated? I'm not sure how to describe this but it feels out of touch with side ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in it. Thus soundtrack is way different than your typical few second loop but that's from the developer's point to go with. I might be bashful on this one but if you are making a game on Unity engine then do so by delivering what prime example is from the inspiration. This felt really slim from the introduction.

Finally, Yume Nikki but ENJOYABLE to play

The game was fun, especially the final boss fight. But to me, the best part (aside from the boss fight) was the easter eggs, they were funny LMAO. Though, I absolutely hate that parkour segment, it's AWFUL.

Dreamcatcher 2003 is a really strange little horror game, and I think that is exactly what makes it memorable. I go into the game as a Divine Intervention special operative who has been sent to investigate the mysterious Dreamcatcher 2003 and stop it from claiming more victims. From the beginning, the whole thing feels like I have stepped into something that is not supposed to make sense. I liked that feeling because the game constantly keeps me wondering what kind of strange situation I am going to find next. The exploration is one of the strongest parts for me. The game takes inspiration from older RPG Maker horror and dreamlike games, so I spend a lot of time moving through unusual locations and meeting characters that feel completely out of place. The environments have that strange dream world quality where I never quite know what I am going to find around the next corner. I enjoyed exploring mainly because the game does not feel predictable. There is also much more variety in the gameplay than I expected. Dreamcatcher 2003 mixes horror, comedy, exploration and action instead of sticking to one style for the entire experience. game is good at being goofy or creepy when it wants to, story is simple, and gameplay difficulty and enjoyment stays consistant even through the style changes.
