Dunchess

I like chess, but I like to play it for fun with people who is as bad as me. I am lazy and I have a hard time remembering opening moves and deep strategy. I like tactics, I like having the puzzle in front of me and just try stuff to outmaneuver my opponent without going like a gazillion moves forward. This game scratches that itch perfectly. It grabs the rules of chess and then just blows up the rigidity. The board is now a map; you start at midgame; you are blinded by fog of war; pieces have now ultimate attacks. Can you go slow and strategical? Probably. Can you strap your queen with explosives and throw her from across the map to blow up six enemy pieces in one move? You bet your ass you will. Graphics are cute, music is smoooooooth af, it runs great on my pc. Good game to play some quick rounds with friends while we catch up. but I bet there's also a bunch of strategy you can squeeze out of this baby if you are inclined to do so. 10/10

Chess reimagined into a fun and interesting game. I know how to play chess but its never really grabbed me but before I knew it 72 hours past on Dunchess and I'm all in. The pieces have abilities which makes it interesting and online play is very fun. Looking forward to more content as this game continues to develop

A really fun crossover of puzzles, deathmatch, and chess mechanics, with a radical twist of pieces superpowers (knight berserk mode ftw) bringing dungeon crawlers to the mix. While being an unforgiving dark souls of chess against the PC - I've lost 8 times in a row before bagging my first win - the game really opens up in PvP mode. You can feel the opponent's frustration even without the voice chat, which strangely gives you warm fuzzy 90s LAN parties vibes. Impressively tasteful pixel graphics, groovy bass lines in the music themes. Even in early access works great - no issues neither in online mode, nor versus PC. Can't wait for the devs to open more features. Loads of potential here.
