What's In Each World?

Each world contains 9 regular levels, 4 challenge levels and 1 unique boss fight.

The 9 regular levels in each world of DYE are a series of challenges with Pigments along the way. Each Pigment you rescue will restore a layer of color, and rescuing all 5 in a level will restore all color to that level. The Normal Mode of the level will have checkpoints along the way, while the Hard Mode modifier will remove all checkpoints and add additional danger.

The 4 challenge levels in each world of DYE are filled with 100 "dust". You free a Pigment every 20 dust collected. There are no checkpoints in the challenge levels, and the Hard Mode version of these levels adds a restrictive time limit.

DYE is a fast-paced precision platformer developed and published by Bat Country Games, LLC that focuses entirely on reflex-driven gameplay, responsive movement, and demanding level design. Set within a colorful world slowly consumed by darkness, the game follows a small character named Hue on a journey to recover lost Pigments and restore life and color to fading environments threatened by mysterious forces known as the Necrolights. Although the narrative remains intentionally simple, the game builds a surprisingly engaging experience through tightly designed platforming mechanics and a constant emphasis on player skill. From the beginning, DYE establishes itself as a game built around movement mastery. Players guide Hue through dangerous stages filled with spikes, moving hazards, narrow corridors, and platforming sequences that require near-perfect timing. Basic mechanics such as jumping, floating, and wall interaction are easy to understand, but the game gradually evolves these simple systems into increasingly complex challenges. The progression feels carefully balanced because the difficulty rises steadily without abandoning the core mechanics introduced early in the adventure.…

Quite hard levels, right from the start really. Doable tho, just may need to spend a few minutes grinding each level, that's doing hard mode trying to get good times tho. Normal mode is pretty manageable for most players. Fun simple platformer, good to do while watching something or listening to a podcast etc.

I'm floored just how much fun I'm having with this innocuous seeming platformer. Normally games that really hook me have creative mechanics or interesting ideas to draw me in, but Dye is really pretty basic in these aspects. Dye simply delivers I Wanna Be The Guy type platforming to perfection. Controls are dreamy and even the most outrageous obstacles can be overcome consistently after enough exposure. Much like Celeste, there's a mathy flavor to the whole affair. Dye is indeed brutal although you may hardly notice due to how deliciously satisfactory the platforming feels. In the second of four worlds, difficulty is already wildly high. One of the world 2 hard levels took me a few hours alone and had me practicing until 2am last night. I won't be surprised if I have to bow out before the 100% completion mark. We'll see! I'd be remiss to not point out that the music goes unnecessarily hard. Seriously, there's some of the best tunes here that I've heard in any game. Consider checking out the soundtrack even if the game doesn't seem like your thing. Dye is a platforming great that deserves a far wider audience. Ignore the somewhat underwhelming trailer and gameplay videos. Dye i…
