Dying Breed

I love strategic games, I played Starcraft, C&C, KKND, Akte Europa and all the old classics, but this game I simply had to refund, there is so much wrong with this. There are some major problems, the damage seems weird, shooting an artillery into a whole bunch of infantry kills exactly one person.. maybe, at the same time two of machinegunbuggys have no problems chewing trough two half damaged tanks and an artillery, the dmg buff on enemy's seems insane. The pathfinding is horrendous, the speed is just so slow, scrolling speed is so sluggish annoying, attack move is bound on moving the map to the left of course...makes total sense, the mixing of the fmv and the ingame "sounds" needs some serious work, I have to constantly adjust the volume. The whole situation is even worsened by the fact that these voice actors have such thick accents that you can barely understand them at times. not to mention the total randomness and hard cuts of the fmv, there is talk about an engineer, oh lets cut to some dude in a high visibility vest making a goofy sound bit. Well I would like this game a Hell of a lot better if skirmish mode was available. ;) This was a fun throwback to the oldschool Command & Conquer games. I think they captured the feeling well. I got a little frustrated with the campaign but i will revisit when skirmish mode comes out & I also hope for mods at some point. But yeah its a fun solid RTS game.

Its not very often a game actually pisses me off with how bad it is, its even rarer ill refund a game, especially a RTS game but these have managed it, they went with copying the original C&C, which other than cnc4 is the worse of the series, but even a game 30 year old pisses on this dumpster fire, it was bad because it was old, following C&Cs improved vastly, what is this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ excuse? its like a bunch of clowns sat around a table after been up all drinking n said you know what would be funny, making a RTS game, googling the first RTS games, seeing command and conquer then just trying to copy that but make it worse in every possible way like its a big joke. for reference, cnc red alert is by far my most replayed command and conquer.

The developers asked me to take a look at Dying Breed, a game that had already been sitting on my backlog for some time. Eventually, I bumped it to the top of my list during some downtime. After giving it a test drive, I was immediately disappointed by how shallow and linear the gameplay felt. As someone who occasionally QA tests games, I’m no stranger to finding exploits, bugs, or unexpected features. The long story short is this. Every single map as the villain faction boils down to the same formula: build a factory, build a barracks, clone 10 infantry, sell the factory for another factory, get refunded about 1600 of the 1900 Substance D, rinse and repeat. Send your army to take out the enemy base, move on. That’s it. No walls, no real defense, just buy, sell, buy, sell, invade. This is effective because selling your factory refunds most of the purchase price and grants you two free infantry units. Using this strategy, you can b…

Dying Breed is a C&C love letter that doesn't quite have the same charm. But regardless, it is fun. Give it a try if you miss the old days of C&C.
