About EBBIL: Alternative Bible

Despite common belief, eternal peace does not reign in Heaven, and with each growing day, angels continue to find fault in their Eden. Raised above hellfire and below the bellowing bellies of serpents, the celestial world is no stranger to peril. See through the eyes of Archangel Gabriel as he traverses the three realms in a tale of estrangement and fear told through intricate, handmade artistry and creative storytelling. Navigate choices both promising and cursed to deliver desired endings and peculiar secrets as you uncover the convoluted mysteries of this world.

The Story

Making a deal with the Devil is never an easy feat; even more, it's a lesson hard learned.
After having lost his wings in a terrible error, Gabriel sets out to hunt down Lucifer, his childhood friend, to force him to atone for his crimes against the Father. In times of devastation, join the story as the archangel struggles between his obligation and past, and decide his verdict for him. ✦ AI summary

EBBIL: Alternative Bible is a visual novel with multiple branching storylines and endings, featuring supernatural and afterlife themes. Players are divided on the quality: some appreciate the art style and emotional storytelling with decent length and replay value, while others criticize the writing as poorly translated from Russian and amateurish, feeling it reads more like unpublished fan fiction than a professionally crafted narrative. The game delivers on being a visual novel rather than an interactive game with gameplay mechanics.

EBBIL: Alternative Bible is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. This badly written, cringey e-book is a collection of three storylines translated really badly from Russian, and illustrated with what looks like "My First Wacom Tablet". There's a theme about the afterlife and supernatural, but none of that gets through the godawful high school dropout fanfiction writing and mangled translation. Visual novels/e-books are tedious at best... imagine the best novel you ever read, be that Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy or 2001: A Space Odyssey or Twilight (if you have terrible taste in literature), but then translate that to a format where the words dribble out and you have to click your mouse every tim…

So, I want to get a few things out of the way as a TL;DR~ 1. This is a visual-novel, NOT a game 2. I don't see anything in this being a "simulation" of any kind. 3. If you want easy achievements, go ahead and grab this. 4. There are multiple endings and only some endings get you into the "second" story with many leading to dead ends as well as what can be seen as the only True/Good Ending so make use of save slots when choices appear if you want to try and get everything. ------------------- Now, lets get into the meat and potatoes. The story here is...interesting. I thought this would be a short experience but I was wrong. Instead, 5.4 hours later and I have everything except the last 6 hidden achievements which I am too tired to get. The pros of this project is that the art style is good, the story is actually interesting, and the music fits the themes of what is happening very well. There is minor horror but nothing that I would see as being too scary. It has more gore than anything. The bad parts is that the story really does go on too long, there are panels where the art is messy and boring, and because the story was translated into English, there are a lot of spelling err…
