[i]ELEGIES: Aya[/i] is a crime thriller, mystery, slightly supernatural visual novel developed and published by Dream Squircle. You take on the role of Zachary (Zach, for short) Gilbert, a teenage boy who wakes up in the middle of the night to find his parents dead and his house in flames. He barely escapes by jumping out of a window. However, he ends up severely injured in the hospital. There, he meets Aya, an energetic, friendly girl who, at first glance, also seems to be a patient. However, Zach discovers that Aya is a ghost and that he's the only one who can see her. Zach and Aya quickly become friends, and after realizing that Aya doesn't know much about her past, Zach is determined to help Aya uncover it. That's the basic gist of the story, and I'll end my story synopsis here to avoid spoilers. As for the gameplay, there are several choices presented throughout the story. Depending on the choices made, you can either get a dead ending, bad ending, or good ending. I'm not a Visual Novel player, but.. I wanted a story to be involved in, endearing characters, interesting storyline and ELEGIES: Aya gave me all of that. And it's criminal it doesn't have the credit it deserves. Amazing work Dream Squircle !

This by far has gotten me intrigued! I love it! I want more of it! I have not completed it yet but i am probably about 6hours in, and so i had to take a break and write this review. This is my 1st novel choice based-game or whatever you want to call it. I just love the story line. I am looking for more like it! Keep up the good work!

The VN was a nice experience after not playing one for a long time, it made me remember why I played VNs in the past. The art is really well done, the characters are lovable and some of the scenes are really relatable, as some of the scenes really hit it too close to home. Overall, I really enjoyed it, looking forward to the sequel!
