Emergency Exit

Emergency Exit is a fun concept of a game, but is not ready in its current state. The UI is exceedingly confusing, and the instructions to the player are minimal. This goes beyond normal puzzle-game mechanics, and is generally a complete mess as far the UI goes. I would like to play this game, but the UI/UX needs a lot of work and refinement before it is playable.

First off i will say that the game is pretty fun especially considering the low price tag and ovbious effort that went into it. Positive: - the riddle aspects of the game are fun (encrypting descriptions in the manual for example) - the levels seem to build up features and additional riddles in a good pace - i liked the analogue horror aspect the game is subtly communicating quite a lot Negative: - some interactions have no definitive telltale if they currently get worked on (switches have only a sound queue, a sound queue and a small loading bar on the screen would be way better) - the UI/UX in the main menu and the options is kinda confusing and it's sometimes unclear which options the player has - loading screens are not clearly communicated to the player, sometimes you are unsure if the game is loading something or if it has just crashed (loading into the game and out of it, elevators)

Emergency Exit by Cheeky Cat Games is a tightly focused cooperative puzzle experience built around one central idea: communication under pressure. Instead of giving players equal roles or mirrored abilities, the game separates them into two completely different perspectives, creating a dependency that drives every moment of gameplay. One player is placed inside a hazardous environment filled with obstacles and threats, while the other remains in a control room, interpreting information and guiding their partner through each challenge. This asymmetry is not just a feature, it is the foundation of the entire experience. The gameplay revolves around navigating a series of increasingly complex scenarios where both players must contribute in different ways. Just finished the first level with my friend! Got 2 copies of this game from a giveaway, played it without any expectations but ended up getting surprised and amazed instead. Gotta say, it's a breathe of fresh air and is such a cool concept despite looking like a simple "top down" game. One thing I'd like to add would be the help screen to automatically pop up for the control operator the first time the game starts to help new players. I know the minimal instructions are deliberate but what I'm referring more specifically is the help section that appears when you press the help icon as the control operator since I initially thought all of the icons there was just stickers for the map to help the operator so it took me quite a while to properly understand things as an operator but overall good game!

The game looks pretty cool as a co-op experience, but it also feels very janky and unpolished. A big annoyance was that the game didn't go full screen, it was stuck in windowed mode, so I went to the options to try and find an option to make it full screen (If it were centered in the middle of my monitor I wouldn't complain, but its stuck at the top left of my monitor in a smaller window). Another irritating thing is the menu UI. It's just hard to follow, and not all the settings stay as you selected them either. An example of this was when I selected to mute the announcer voice, and even though the option was selected, it still didn't work. Game play wise, it's still finicky at times. During the second level I accidentally clipped through a wall and soft locked the level, I walked into a cabinet object that was near a wall to the right of the room and it pushed me through the wall. I didn't get too far with my friend, so I can't comment on everything. And given the game purposefully leaves things unexplained, I can't say it's too confusing as a valid complaint.
