Escape From The Depth

My only nit pick is that the subtitles and dialogue aren't synced at times, up to and including the ending lol. But fact is, outside of that I know it's short but I kinda love this. It shows really good understanding of fundamental level design, scripting, and pace. The premise and script is punchy and doesn't waste time and I think the VO performances are excellent. I really wish there was more game or a full game. I want to know what happens next! The creature really freaked me out!

"Escape From The Depth" is perhaps a student project or something... it's an extremely short first person horror adventure game where you avoid a monster and run around a rather generic kitbashed feeling environment. You're supposed to be on a submarine under the frozen crust of the moon, Europa, trapped on a submarine with an alien entity chasing you around. Alien Isolation shows how popular that concept could be, but the implementation here is less than 0.5% of that professionally made game. In fact if the store blurb didn't tell you it's a sub on a frozen moon, you wouldn't know, it feels like a really generic kitbashed FPS level. There's nothing submarineish about it. And nothing Europa-ish about the bug monster chasing you around too. If this is a student project, I am not sure they passed the course. The game is quite short, and can be run through in just 10 minutes or less. The lack of content here makes it hard to suggest it's worth spending the time to add to your library and download. The game assets here look a lot better than the actual game they're assembled on... that doesn't mean this is necessarily an asset flip or a kitbash, because there's no proof. But …

I only have two critique points: objectives on screen would be nice to see and the subtitles are a little buggy. Otherwise my main takes on the game are I love the sound design and the paranoia as well as creepiness factor of not hearing the creature and having to rely on visuals is what makes this game I think really good for being a small game. I hope that the creators make more games and use this game as a launching point for other projects. It's honestly not bad for a small indie game. I hope they keep up the great work!

Small little horror game, I enjoyed the spooky chilling atmosphere of being alone in a submarine but the monster could do with some tweaks since I stood less than 2 feet from it and it had no idea i was there but at one point i was on the other side of the sub and it came for me...
