About Faerie Afterlight
Inspired by Indonesian philosophy and folk art, Faerie Afterlight is a beautifully stylized 2D Metroidvania game filled with an abundance of heart, courage, camaraderie, and a delightful soundtrack complimentary to the game's lush world. Simultaneously control Kimo and Wispy as this unlikely but (literally) inseparable duo explores Lumina’s infested caverns, deep seas, and ghostly cities to reclaim the scattered, broken shards of Light. Along the way, the pair will solve puzzles, befriend locals, engage and enchant enemies, and face off against fierce Titans to gain powerful new abilities that will grant greater access to Lumina!

Manipulate Your Environment
Use Wispy’s ability to move platforms, walls, and dead ends while Kimo bounces and repels off each surface.

Friend or Foe?
Some – but not all – enemies can be befriended.

Myriad Terrains
Hidden doors, secret nooks, and covered passages abound. Unlock every inch of this vast world’s forests, cerulean seas, and graceful ruins.

Grow Stronger
Overcome corrupted Titans to gain powerful new abilities and be granted access to new areas of Lumina.
Cling to walls with Spider Legs, dash with Beetle Horns, and more!

Faerie Afterlight is a hand-crafted 2D Metroidvania developed by Clay Game Studio and published by Mastiff that leans heavily into atmosphere, folklore, and visual storytelling rather than pure mechanical intensity. Set in the fractured world of Lumina, the game presents an adventure shaped by light and shadow, where exploration and mood take precedence over fast-paced combat. From the very beginning, it establishes itself as a gentle, dreamlike experience that invites players to slow down and absorb its world rather than rush through it. The story centers on two intertwined protagonists: Kimo, a solitary creature bound to the darker depths of Lumina, and Wispy, a small fairy whose mission is to restore the shattered source of light known as Lucentia. Their journey is framed as both a physical and symbolic restoration, with each recovered fragment helping heal the world’s corrupted regions. Narrative delivery is understated, relying more on environmental cues, visual symbolism, and lore fragments than on lengthy dialogue. This subtle approach works well for players who enjoy piecing together meaning through exploration, though it may feel restrained for those expecting a more char…2 found this helpful
This game is really good at what it is trying to do, which is frustrating the player. Character controls like a oiled up shopping cart, combat is stale and platforming sections are designed to make you start all over.2 found this helpful
Fun game!
I got this game a while ago and started playing it for a little and it can be boring at the start, but it can get pretty fun eventually. I recommend this game if your looking for another metrovania after hollow knight or/and silksong.
I really wanted to like Faerie Afterlight, and it saddens me to give it a bad review, but this is a pretty expensive game for what you end up getting, as most of the game felt near unplayable to me. I've tried to get into it twice, but both felt pretty disappointing. I will begin from the positives and say that the game is very beautiful and has some gorgeous environments. The best thing the game does is by far the art direction. The bosses and the npcs looked really pretty and unique as well, and everything fit into the overall visuals of the game. I also enjoyed switching between swimming and floating modes, a mechanic that could have been better utilized but was much smoother compared to most of the others. That is, however, where the pros sadly end. The bosses, while beautiful, weren't particularly well designed, as they didn't really do much other than make you wait for their attacks to be over so you can get a couple of hits and then wait again. The player character felt really bad to use, with janky movement, confusing controls, and a pretty slow attack, which really didn't help with fighting anything. For most of the game I felt lost and confused, and pretty unmotivated …
